Although the reality star didn't put on a warbonnet this time, Khloe Kardashian posted a selfie sporting braids on Instagram with the caption that reads "Native." In 2014, she wore a warbonnet and "meditated" in front of a mini-tipi during a birthday party for North West. After receiving criticism, she responded on Twitter: @lmvotino thanku 4being 1of the ONLY people who care enough 2educate rather than threaten/attack. Ur culter is beautiful &I would love2learn
One facebook user says: If you're going to claim "native" heritage as a fashion statement at least bring some awareness to our people & to the problems that we face as Native Americans today in this society. There is so much more to being native than braids & feathers.
Another: I'd rather see her braids than a head dress. It's annoying more than offensive, but I don't think she did it to be a disrespectful bitch. Maybe she could have said she was wearing the braids with a purpose. Like to raise awareness to missing indigenous women. But the fact that she captioned this with "Native" is a bit odd...
One more: Wow, such negativity over a simple statement. I'm pretty sure she didn't mean that she IS native because of her braids. If more people spent as much time building each other up as they do being offended by every word and tearing people down, imagine what a better world we would live in. I think you look beautiful, Khloé Kardashian!!!!
