LA Times reporters had to beg their bosses to cover the Academy Awards

The LA Times was allocated 6 press passes for the Oscars but only 2 went to reporters.

2 of the passes went to LA Times' parent company (Tribune Publishing) CEO Justin Dearborn.

2 passes went to the largest shareholder and non-executive chairman of Tribune Publishing, who earlier in February invested $44.4 million of his own money into the company.

Reporters for the LA Times had to beg their bosses to cover the Academy Awards.

LA Times reporters Steve Zeitchik and Amy Kaufman ended up covering the ceremony.
