I can't hate on the middle name tbh because HOW MANY men out there have their father's names for their middle name? Like if you're a middle-class white dude and your middle name isn't John or Anthony or Michael it's prob your dad's name lbr.

At least in the US, it used to be so common for women to be named like [Mother's first name] [Mother's maiden name] [Father's last name]. Idk why we stopped that shit but the male Jr and III has lived on.

I guess Thomas is also a popular option. Srsly people are really uncreative with middle names. The women are all Maria/Marie/Mary or Renee or Ann(e) or Elizabeth, too. It's almost as if they only give you five to choose from when you're filling out a birth certificate.

I'll take any of those names over Ruth Esther tbh...

I have two middle names, one of which is Elizabeth but it balances the unusual first name (named after my grandmother and it was a family name so)

Both my brother and I have better middle names than first names. Our middle names are basically what our parents WANTED to name us but they were slightly uncommon and it made them a little nervous. They're cool names though. :(

In the US at least, middle names are kind of throwaway names anyway. Most people only use them when they're filling out forms or yelling at their kids. If my mom ever used my full name I knew I was in deep shit.

My Mexican dad insisted that my American mom name me after her. So my mom and I share the same name yet no one has ever called me by that name, plus I hate it. I've always gone by my middle name and I've never understood why they bothered naming me after my mom if they weren't even going to use that name lol.

My family is Catholic, so my middle name is related to the patron saint of the day I was born.

However my brother & sisters' middle names are from other family members idk.

its not just men, in the area of india my family is from EVERYONE has their dad's name as their middle name. me and my brother have the same middle name.

I'm like that with my mom! She kept her maiden name as her middle name when she married my dad and took his last name. They gave me her maiden name as my middle name, I'm Caitlin and hers is Cathleen.

Also I love that my middle name is in reference to my mom. Dads' get their surname passed onto their kids, I like that my full name reflects both my parents.
