same. my friends and I knew it was coming and we still gasped. I liked it better than the way it was done in the book.

I know... I started laughing uncontrollably

I knew what was coming yet I was extremely shocked.

I still had my hand over my mouth and shaking my head no, like five minutes after that scene.

This movie was amazing, seriously probably the best adaptation I have ever seen. Also, she was absolutely perfect as Amy.

For those who read the book and I'm still in the beginning chapters of reading , did the author ever get Into detail over what exactly Amy's issues were like what kind of psychological issues?

i don't think so, maybe just on a superficial way. i definitely think the amazing amy books were a contributing factor tho.

[Spoiler (click to open)]We get info that Amy felt like she didn't quite fit into her parents' lives as they were best friends with a true love type of marriage and her mother had 7 miscarriages (all girls named Hope) before she finally had Amy (whom is named Amy so that she'd fade into the crowd of all the girls named Amy and hence God would not notice and take the Elliott's only surviving child). Amy feels like her parents put her on the path to be who she is by never letting her live down her mistakes, e.g. Amy quits cello and then Amazing Amy becomes a prodigy.

Basically, it's shit though. There's nothing revealed by any of the characters that point to Amy's life being ready-set to make a sociopath. It reads more like Amy knows she's not quite right (and she does, but she's herself as being better than everyone) and comes up with reasons as to why.

I read this in a review I thought it was an interesting take on her, the book/movie doesn't provide much reason other than the amazing amy stuff and what the user above wrote

I haven't read the book but this sounds like bullshit given the movie's take on it. It seemed like her parents and ~social order~ had nothing to do with her personality. She seemed genuinely crazy/obsessive. Also, her husband was an asshole but he wasn't really demanding of her--if anything, he was the opposite and was too emotionally checked out of the relationship to demand anything other than a divorce.

I think Amy is just a flat-out psychopath and is more compelling that way than a woman seeking revenge for what her husband and ~society~ did to her.

ia i just kept freaking out after over how well that scene was filmed and scored.

i think i read that it took 2 or 3 full days to shoot. they had to keep bringing in new furniture and the actors had to keep showering.

damn three days, but it's expected, It did look hard to act out. I also thought about the furniture lol It was a nice bed. I hope they were able to get the fake blood off cause that would be a waste of nice bedding.

Oh man I hope this ends up being a DVD extra feature.

I love her as Amy so much and I hope this role gets RP more exposure. I adore the film almost as much as the book.... did anyone else notice how much time Bleeker the cat gets in the movie? I remember him being mentioned twice in the book but it seemed like Fincher paid for the cat's time and the cat was going to be in all the scenes, which I quite liked.

the cat was sooo cute, and so expressive as well.

Yes! The cat softened both Nick and Amy in a good way without making apologies for either of them.

If that cat could talk, it would've spilled all the tea on Nick and Amy's marriage and would've prevented everything from getting wildly out of control.

the cat was a better actor than most human actors lol
always on his mark, always with the right facial expressions. he was cute when he was looking out the window and the paparazzi flashes were lighting him up

i really loved the movie. a great adaptation, gillian's script was very good. i liked the casting of all the women, casey wilson's accent killed me and i loved sela ward.

I loved Sela Ward too. Everything about this movie was PERFECT.
IMO best movie of the year. Last year I favored Wolf of Wall Street.

I love a creative movie. This had me waivering Nick the murderer, or dead Amy the majority of the movie! It was a rollercoaster ride.
