M·A·C To Kick Off Cult Classic Film's 40th Anniversary Celebration With Collection Available October 2nd

Twentieth Century Fox Consumer Products and M·A·C Cosmetics kick off the celebration of the 40th anniversary of The Rocky Horror Picture Show in wild style with an untamed M·A·C collaboration, featuring an outrageous collection of hues and products specially designed to recreate the looks of your favorite characters from Richard O'Brien's cult classic film. Fans will transform into a sex-swapping mad scientist, heroic newlywed, alien from Transylvania or even the time-warped Riff Raff, with an orgy of color worthy of any midnight mayhem at The Frankenstein Place.

The wonderfully weird collection features lipsticks and lip pencils ($17.50), eye shadow palette ($44.00), glitters and pigment ($23.00), blush ($24.00), powders ($27.50-35.00), liquid eyeliner ($20.00), lashes ($18.50) and more and will be available in stores everywhere on October 2nd and online at www.maccosmetics.com

"It is hard to believe it has been almost 40 years since we released The Rocky Horror Picture Show, but as we approach this milestone anniversary, the film is as outrageously entertaining and relevant as it ever was," said Lou Adler, executive producer of The Rocky Horror Picture Show. "It has certainly taken on a life of its own, and continues to transcend generations and hold a solid spot in pop culture year after year."

"As the fortieth anniversary is looming with great...'Antic-i-pation' lifelong fans and even newbies to the cult of ROCKY will be very excited by the kick-off of this great product line, says Sal Piro "RHPS Fan Club President." What better response can there be to the audience call-back "LET THERE BE LIPS" !!!!

What are you most excited about from this collection, ONTD? Larger images of the collection can be found here (Thanks, jessickah!)

Flawless use of the time warp tag
lyrabjadesss 3rd-Sep-2014 02:11 pm (UTC)
Haha thanks, I was trying to search for a possible Tim Curry tag (wishful thinking, I know) & it suggested Time Warp & I was like "Aww yeahhhh"
areusuretho 3rd-Sep-2014 03:06 pm (UTC)
ahaha yes
ace_kay 3rd-Sep-2014 02:11 pm (UTC)
I'd probably get one or two of the lipsticks. For the packaging mostly.
ophiodeiros 3rd-Sep-2014 02:23 pm (UTC)
yep ia, i'm looking at the 3rd one from the left.
_amateur 3rd-Sep-2014 07:58 pm (UTC)
This. I only want the packaging :/
leopard_legs 4th-Sep-2014 07:19 pm (UTC)
I love a vampy lipstick so I'm definitely in...and yeah, the packaging
mrowmrowmrow 3rd-Sep-2014 02:11 pm (UTC)
Most excited about the pigments, least excited about the other color ranges. Blues/purps on the eyes and red lips are so not my thing.
aria_grace 3rd-Sep-2014 02:13 pm (UTC)
Yeah. It reminds me of my stage makeup for dance. Not anything I'd want to wear in my real life.
zygopetalum 3rd-Sep-2014 07:01 pm (UTC)
Better than that fucking nacho cheese Simpsons lip gloss.

You'd think after doing basically the same colors for the Simpsons palettes they'd change it up tho, tbh.
cerseiscunt 3rd-Sep-2014 02:11 pm (UTC)
I need all of this in my life
aria_grace 3rd-Sep-2014 02:11 pm (UTC)
Did mac always used to release this many collections?? There are way too many and they aren't as interesting anymore.
kittymink 3rd-Sep-2014 02:42 pm (UTC)
That's what I was thinking.
isthisdesire 3rd-Sep-2014 03:19 pm (UTC)
they've been releasing tons for a couple of years now. Before they used to be seasonal and for the most part, good quality. Now it's hit or miss when it comes to quality
sarahvma 3rd-Sep-2014 03:22 pm (UTC)
They always released collections, but there have definitely been way more in recent years than in the past. I remember they'd typically do about one per season, and often some of the colors would become "permanent."

I think their problem is that with Sephora taking over they're no longer the go-to for the makeup obsessed the way they used to be. So collections and LE products are a way of staying relevant and topical.
infidelkast 3rd-Sep-2014 03:47 pm (UTC)
I remember they used to treat them more specially back in the day and it was more like one a season, I miss the ridiculous promo videos that always got posted to ontd.
razetora 3rd-Sep-2014 05:51 pm (UTC)
lmao i was like "didnt they just do the simpsons"

I want Frank-n-Furter

Bless! Mind if I add this link to the post?

Not at all! This is from makeupaddiction on reddit.
mistress_f 3rd-Sep-2014 03:03 pm (UTC)
i want strange journey. must have it. also oblivion. they better be matte as hell
invisible_cunt 3rd-Sep-2014 03:27 pm (UTC)
i wish i wore lipstick but my friend will go crazy over the first one
and i want the formidable polish!!
_amateur 3rd-Sep-2014 08:00 pm (UTC)
I like the palette minus the blue.
mistress_f 3rd-Sep-2014 02:13 pm (UTC)
OMG i need everything if only my collector-stan status
(definitely gonna buy the lipstick, nail polish, and powder + i have to see them in person)
jennyherself 3rd-Sep-2014 02:13 pm (UTC)
I love severe, dramatic lipsticks so I will probably get some of these.

I need some recommendations for more subdued, natural, not-so-severe everyday type lipstick colours. All of my lipsticks are sooo dramatic lol. (I'm pale with green eyes and dark blonde hair.)
ace_kay 3rd-Sep-2014 02:16 pm (UTC)
The revlon colorstay matte/lacquer balms? They come in a lot of subdued colors.
lloydsgurl 3rd-Sep-2014 02:29 pm (UTC)
I just got the balm stain honey and it is pretty neutral/mlbb

but I must not be one for dramatics bc I have a few of the balms/lacquers and I'm always like 'let me mellow this a little' haha
jennyherself 3rd-Sep-2014 02:38 pm (UTC)
aria_grace 3rd-Sep-2014 02:20 pm (UTC)
Mac Twig is my fave. And Bite lip crayon in Rhubarb.
jessickah 3rd-Sep-2014 02:25 pm (UTC)

This thread seems to be very helpful. Hell, the top suggestion I really want now. @___@
weatherstaff 3rd-Sep-2014 02:37 pm (UTC)
Smashbox has some great neutrals I use their lipstick in the color Sublime to enhance my natural lip color.
backtoblack 3rd-Sep-2014 02:39 pm (UTC)
I've been feeling the fuck out of Charlotte Tilbury's Bitch Perfect lipstick for a natural shade
missdisco 3rd-Sep-2014 03:50 pm (UTC)
i just don't bother with lipstick, just put some balm on.

actually, really, my idea of make up is eyes and a little bit of powder to look less greasy from moisturising.
alienclit 3rd-Sep-2014 05:18 pm (UTC)
1.download adobe küler
2.take a picture of your junk w/ it
3. buy a lipstick that's one of those colors.
marywebgirl 3rd-Sep-2014 10:20 pm (UTC)
Tender heart by Clinique is a very basic neutral one (I'm pale with green eyes too). It also comes in a lot of their gwps so you could probably find it pretty easily on swap sites.
oltschi 3rd-Sep-2014 02:13 pm (UTC)
I wish mac wasn't so expensive in my country, because all the lipsticks are to die for and are screaming at me everytime I pass one of their shops.

That Vino Lip Pencil color looks gorgeous
anidee 3rd-Sep-2014 04:54 pm (UTC)
Is that technically part of the collection? I swore I bought a vino mac lip pencil years ago
borednow165 4th-Sep-2014 08:00 am (UTC)
Not every color they use is new. They do use colors from their permanent range in limited edition collections as well.
xtinkerbellax 3rd-Sep-2014 02:14 pm (UTC)
I didn't realize their lipsticks were only like, 16 bucks, I want to try some.
aria_grace 3rd-Sep-2014 02:23 pm (UTC)
I know, I just recently realized that mac is somewhat affordable! I don't know if they reduced their prices or what but I always thought their lipsticks were around 30.
xtinkerbellax 3rd-Sep-2014 02:39 pm (UTC)
Yea I thought they were in the mid twenties range for some reason. I mean, Revlon lipsticks are about $10 at my CVS, I wouldn't mind spending a bit more for these.
__yourlovely 3rd-Sep-2014 05:03 pm (UTC)
They've actually been increasing their prices recently. Their lipsticks used to cost $14.

Edited at 2014-09-03 05:05 pm (UTC)
jessickah 3rd-Sep-2014 02:41 pm (UTC)
I feel like certain lipsticks are more expensive than others. But looking at these prices I'm like woah, affordable!
mistress_f 3rd-Sep-2014 03:08 pm (UTC)
their matte lipsticks are the only lipsticks i've ever had that stay on forever. high hend brands like chanel, givenchy, ysl promised long lasting and it wasn't true. mac's stay on forever (at least on my lips) so i'd say they're really worth every single cent
infidelkast 3rd-Sep-2014 03:49 pm (UTC)
jfc I didn't know that, NARS lipsticks are like $30 and Dior's are $40
winegums 3rd-Sep-2014 03:59 pm (UTC)
yeah their matte lipsticks and lip pencils are pretty fantastic. idgaf how basic everyone else says mac is, other brands would charge 25-30$ for that quality (and i tried nyx, it doesn't compare). same with their eye shadows/eye pencils and gel liners.

their other stuff is pretty hit and miss though.
caacac 3rd-Sep-2014 06:20 pm (UTC)
omg thats all? in the uk they're so expensive
kknee13 3rd-Sep-2014 02:14 pm (UTC)
I used to be so into Mac and now I'm just like meh I'd rather buy things from sephora. Still love their mineralize skin finish powder though
weatherstaff 3rd-Sep-2014 02:36 pm (UTC)
I really only like MAC for their lipstick, honestly. I used to be so into their foundation and eyeshadows, but they're just meh to me now.
kknee13 3rd-Sep-2014 02:47 pm (UTC)
I liked their foundation until the lightest foundation became wayyy too dark for my face. I've always had hits or misses with their eye shadows, sometimes the product doesn't seem to transfer to a brush well so I have to really press hard to get any product
vldtheimpaler 3rd-Sep-2014 03:03 pm (UTC)
I've never used any of their foundations but I've a couple of their eyeshadows and I find the pigmentation really weak...the brown one I have needs a lot of layers, and it doesn't spread evenly.

I also got Fix+ recently and idk if I'm just not using it right but it doesn't seem to do anything...
sarahvma 3rd-Sep-2014 03:24 pm (UTC)
It's sad, because I think I'd still really like MAC if I gave them a chance, but the LE promos just bug me.
deltabean 3rd-Sep-2014 04:07 pm (UTC)
I hate the service I get at Mac, so I stick with Sephora. But Sephora isn't that much better tbh
razetora 3rd-Sep-2014 05:52 pm (UTC)
my mall just opened a Kiko Milan and a MAC next to sephora and I tend to go to all three but I'm a broke bitch so I just go to kiko bc i can actually afford their shit
lustdumpster 3rd-Sep-2014 02:14 pm (UTC)
I'm gonna need swatches of those lipsticks. I probably won't buy any though.
starsremain 3rd-Sep-2014 02:17 pm (UTC)
Went into Sephora yesterday, and left with a primer, false eyelashes, and a pencil sharpener.

Got home and went WTF at the falsies since I don't wear them and don't even know how to put them on since I'm not a ~makeup pro.

Edited at 2014-09-03 02:17 pm (UTC)
xtinkerbellax 3rd-Sep-2014 02:20 pm (UTC)
lol don't you hate when you get something home and then are like, "why the fuck would I buy this?"
starsremain 3rd-Sep-2014 02:27 pm (UTC)
Yes! Now I'm just staring at the package wondering how the hell I'm gonna get them looking good and not busted up.
frelling_tralk 3rd-Sep-2014 02:29 pm (UTC)
I'm constantly doing that when it comes to make-up! I keep buying different eyeshadow palettes cause they look so pretty and call to me in the shops, but I don't really bother with eyeshadow for everyday, so I always end up regretting my purchases and hardly getting any use out of them
weatherstaff 3rd-Sep-2014 02:35 pm (UTC)
i did this at ulta twice this past week. the woman somehow conned me into buying a 48 dollar skin care kit and i got home and was 'like nOPE' and took it back.

and then i ended up purchasing that red lipstick for the UD Pulp Fiction collection and was like 'I don't even wear red lipstick. . .'

they get me every time.
ophiodeiros 3rd-Sep-2014 02:48 pm (UTC)
i've got the same problem but with buying products that i already semi-own. i made an inventory of my beauty stack a week ago and the number of raspberry-ish red lipsticks and nude eye palettes with an occasional warm shimmer i own is staggering. now i check myself before buying bc i'm clearly drawn to the same items under different brand names.
leopard_legs 4th-Sep-2014 07:22 pm (UTC)
story of my bloody life, lol
pplemmy 3rd-Sep-2014 02:38 pm (UTC)
i got the naked palette as a gift for my birthday and whenever i wear it it, i look like a 12 year old from the 90s with a glitter roller ball.
peddlestools 3rd-Sep-2014 02:57 pm (UTC)
sephora has a really good return policy
makahakat 3rd-Sep-2014 02:18 pm (UTC)
i finally bought some mac stuff, idk why i was expecting it to be high end?? really disappointed with the cheap packaging of the lipstick
nastymommybitch 3rd-Sep-2014 02:49 pm (UTC)
I don't like mac. I have one eyeshadow.
secura 3rd-Sep-2014 03:06 pm (UTC)
their packaging is so god damn lazy now
hoot 3rd-Sep-2014 03:41 pm (UTC)
MAC isn't really good. I heard it used to be amazing before Estée Lauder bought them out, but I didn't use it back then.
vee_bot 3rd-Sep-2014 08:46 pm (UTC)
ia, it's gone downhill.
pipsdixiechick 5th-Sep-2014 02:35 am (UTC)
It was amazing in the 90s before EL got their hands on it. Plus it also dropped its cruelty free policy (a result of being under the EL umbrella), which was one of its big draws aside from the quality it used to be.
