Dave Grohl becomes father for third time

Dave Grohl and his wife Jordyn Blum have become parents for the third time.

The Foo Fighters frontman, 45, and his wife of 11 years welcomed a baby daughter named Ophelia on August 1, according to Us Weekly.

Grohl and Blum are already parents to two girls -Violet Maye, eight and five-year-old Harper Willow.

Their daughter's birth announcement comes just days after the sad news that the rocker's father, James Grohl, died after a longterm illness on August 6.

A post on The David Grohl Alley Scholarship Program's Facebook Page from August 8 states: 'Bittersweet news - congratulations David Grohl and Jordyn Blum who have welcomed a new baby girl #3 Ophelia Grohl! The Lord giveth and the Lord taketh away!!'

As for the name of their youngest daughter, it is often associated with the tragic Danish heroine in Shakespeare's play Hamlet.

Derived from the Greek word ophelos, Ophelia means 'help'.

Popularity of the name has steadily declined since it's peak in the late 19th century after it appeared as a character in Harriet Beecher Stowe's famous novel Uncle Tom's Cabin.

As well as a young baby, the rocker is in the midst of making an HBO documentary to air in October.

Grohl will direct Foo Fighters: Sonic Highways, after receiving critical acclaim last year for his directorial début for the music documentary Sound City.

The new series will feature the group recording one song in eight cities, including Chicago, Los Angeles and New York.

Meanwhile, the band are working on their the follow-up album to 2011's Wasting Light, which won five Grammys in 2012, including best rock album.

Cute name!
