Nia Long makes history as the first woman to front White Diamonds perfume other than Elizabeth

Actress Nia Long is the new face of Elizabeth Taylor’s White Diamonds Lustre perfume – making her the first person to front the fragrance other than the classic Hollywood actress herself.

The mother-of-two, famous for her TV roles in The Fresh Prince of Bel Air and Third Watch, said of the fragrance in a press release: ‘Elizabeth Taylor said White Diamonds was her “Diamonds In A Bottle,” and that's what Lustre really is to me – Lustre just adds that extra sparkle. I personally love the juicy pear and raspberry notes in Lustre – it gives it a fresh, fruity feminine touch.’

Jezebel speculates that Ms Long, will appear in both TV and print advertisements for the perfume.

Until this point Taylor - who died in 2011  - has posthumously appeared in ads for the fragrance, as marketers have continued to air TV spots that were filmed years before her death.

The ads would run at a particularly high frequency during the holiday months when fragrance sales hit their yearly peak.
White Diamonds, launched in 1991, was once named ‘the most popular celebrity fragrance in the world,’ by The Hollywood Reporter.

Recent sales statistics show that it has grossed $1billion in sales in the last 23 years – a number that has yet to be matched by other products in the ever-expanding celebrity fragrance category.

Produced by Elizabeth Arden, White Diamonds has gone on to launch variations including Lustre, which was developed to include lighter, fruitier notes.

White Diamonds is the only perfume my grandma will ever wear. I recently moved out of state for the first time, and don't get to see her as much...so I smell it whenever I miss her. /csb

Elizabeth was prettier, they should just keep using old photos of her.

White Diamonds and My Grandma were an OTP before I knew what an OTP was, tbh.

omg this fragrance smells so strong, cant believe this sales on scent alone, but it had to have sold on Elizabeth Taylor’s name or star power.
