Add Thor to the growing list of characters getting a new look for the "Avenger 2," Moviepilot reports.
Chris Hemsworth was recently photographed in-costume, and while the differences in his character's outfit are pretty subtle, they do show a progression that Moviepilot's Kit Simpson Browne notes makes sense:
"Take a closer look, though, and it's acquired a distinctly less golden tint, with the central metallic sections becoming silver... Could this be a direct response to the events of 'Thor: The Dark World,' and a visual prompt of a shift in Thor's focus towards Midgard? Or, alternatively, is it just intended to be a sleeker, more Ultron-bashing-friendly adaptation? Could the price of gold have simply gone up in the MCU? We may never know."
The change follows the recent leak via JoBlo that tips Black Widow's costume update for the film.
According to the report, Scarlett Johansson's character will feature a "TRON-style" look that will feature electricity flowing through it, which will manifest as electroshock "widow sting" superpowers.
The redesign is certainly an interesting change, but may not be greeted with overwhelming applause.
The "Avengers" sequel has been rumored for some interesting new costume changes and thanks to Comic Book Movie, we also have our first look at Hawkeye's updated look.
The image comes from set, where Jeremy Renner's character has a grimaced expression as he maneuvers through some sort of destruction, bow in-hand. The noticeable change in the suit comes with the character's long sleeves, which have attracted mixed reviews.
io9's Rob Bricken doesn't see the character ever wearing this outfit:
"It's not the worst superhero outfit in the world, but it looks pretty much nothing like Hawkeye has ever worn before. In fact, I don't think I've ever seen Hawkeye in long sleeves, at least not when he wasn't impersonating another hero. Also, heroes that tend to do a lot of running/kicking/punching killer robots rarely seem to have loose, frilly clothes (other than capes). Maybe my problem is it just looks a bit formal to me.
However, ComicBook Movie disagrees, sharing this comparison photo to the comics.
"Avengers: Age of Ultron" stars Robert Downey Jr (Iron Man), Chris Evans (Captain America), Mark Ruffalo (Hulk), Chris Hemsworth (Thor) and Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow). Other actors featured in the film include Cobie Smulders (Maria Hill), Jeremy Renner (Hawkeye), Aaron Taylor-Johnson (Quicksilver), Elizabeth Olsen (Scarlet Witch), Paul Bettany (The Vision), Samuel L Jackson (Nick Fury) and James Spader (Ultron). The film is scheduled to hit U.S. theaters on May 1, 2015.
