CANNES: Britt Robertson’s Thriller ‘Ask Me Anything’ Gets U.S. Distribution

Phase 4 films has acquired North American distribution rights to the thriller “Ask Me Anything,” starring Britt Robertson (“Under the Dome”).

Producers are Lauren Avinoam, Nicolas Emiliani, and Lauren Hogarth. Allison Burnett directed from his own script, adapted from his novel “Undiscovered Gyrl.”

Robertson portrays a young woman who takes a year off before college in order to seduce a 30-year-old film professor (played by Justin Long) while resisting her attraction to her married boss (portrayed by Christian Slater) while blogging anonymously about her adventures — before her narrative begins to crack and dark parts of her past emerge.

Phase 4′s Larry Greenberg negotiated the deal with Maren Olson of Traction on behalf of the filmmakers.

Joins the cast of 'Cake'

Britt Robertson, Sam Worthington, Anna Kendrick, Chris Messina, Felicity Huffman, William H. Macy, Lucy Walters, Camille Mana, Manuel Garcia Rulfo and Oscar-nominated actress Marianne Jean-Baptiste will join Jennifer Aniston in the indie movie “Cake,” it has been announced. Daniel Barnz will direct from Patrick Tobin’s script, which was voted to the 2013 Black List.

“Cake” is set to be released in 2015 and Britt will play a character named Becky.

The acerbic, hilarious CLAIRE SIMMONS becomes fascinated by the suicide of a woman in her chronic pain support group. As she uncovers the details of Nina’s suicide and develops a poignant relationship with Nina’s husband, she also grapples with her own, very raw personal tragedy.

Talks a little about working on Under the Dome

With such a varied CV, Robertson enjoys splitting her time between big and small screen roles but insists the preparation for both mediums doesn't change that much.

Britt said: "I always go in to television and film the same way as far as preparation goes. Although with TV you are constantly getting new changes and new episodes so I have to expedite the process a little bit when we're in the middle of a production on a series."

With Under the Dome now in a second season, Britt admits it has been an experience to remember.

The show sees a small town in the US being trapped under a mysterious and invisible dome, cutting the inhabitants off from the rest of civilisation. As the townspeople try to discover just what the dome is and why it's there, they find out more about each other than they ever knew.

"This experience has been one of my top five experiences," she beams. "I love shooting in North Caroline. It's very comforting, not to mention the cast is a blast to be around."

Having just finished shooting on highly-secretive Disney sci-fi Tomorrowland, the actress is among an impressive cast that includes George Clooney, Hugh Laurie and Judy Greer.

But with so little being known about the film, what could Britt tell us about it? Well, not a lot.

She simply says: "I'm sworn to secrecy."

With her star on the rise and her feet planted firmly on the ground, it's evident Britt Robertson is a name we're going to be hearing more of.
