Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele of Comedy Central's sketch comedy series Key & Peele joined Patton Oswalt in conversation at the Paley Center for Media in Beverly Hills Monday night. Prior to taking the stage for a panel which live-streamed to thousands of internet viewers, Key and Peele shared with Rotten Tomatoes what shows they're currently watching. Turns out Key is obsessed with Orphan Black. [Watch out for spoilers below.]
Keegan-Michael Key: Right now I'm way crazy into Orphan Black. I'm up to date. I watch it about two hours after it comes on the air -- that's as close as anyone gets to appointment-watching television these days is like two hours after it comes on air. Big Orphan Black fan. Also, my wife and I are huge Hannibal fans. We love Hannibal, Orphan Black, and I was blown away by this last episode of Orphan Black[Season 2, Episode 8, "Variable And Full Of Perturbation"]. It was craaaazyyyy with Tony. That was amazing.
RT: And isn't she amazing? Tatiana Maslany?
Key: I can't get over Tatiana Maslany. And I just met Jordan Gavaris.
RT: And is he as cool in real life as you might think?
Key: He's lovely. And the thing is, my wife's a dialect coach and we didn't know he's not English.
RT: He's not English?
Key: No! He's Canadian! And so I'm in New York City at the Peabody Awards and [Orphan Black] won a Peabody Award, so I walk in to this little coffeehouse and I'm looking at this guy, and he's looking at me, and he goes, "Oh! Oh! You're --" and then I went, "Ugh! Ugh! You --" and we're both freaking out, and I ran across the coffeehouse and I grabbed him and hugged him ('cause I got a problem -- I'm a little too tactile) and I grabbed his face and I turned it to my wife and said, "Look! It's...it's...FE!"
So that's really what we're watching right now, and I'm a huge fan of So You Think You Can Dance. I'm on this television show right now on USA called Playing House.
RT: Which also is a critically acclaimed show and I think people should check it out.
Key: Yes, they should... So I got to dance last week, and Mandy Moore from So You Can Think Dancechoreographed that number and it was just awesome.
In conversation with Jordan Peele, Peele revealed that he's as hooked on Game of Thrones as everyone else, and shared a few predictions for Sunday night's season four finale. [Again, spoilers.]
Jordan Peele: I'm watching Game of Thrones.
RT: Did you read the books?
Peele: Didn't read the books.
RT: Good. Me neither. So neither of us know what's going to happen.
Peele: Good. Screw those guys. Those book people are screwing s--- up.
RT: What do you think is going to happen on the season finale?
Peele: The finale episode is usually a little bit of a letdown compared to the penultimate in this show, isn't it?
RT: Yes, but I didn't think this week's [Episode 9] was all that.
Peele: Alright. Interview's over. What do you mean? That was, like, the coolest thing --
RT: I just wanted to check in with the other characters more.
Peele: See, I was just saying that this was the first time we got to sit down and experience a whole [interrupts himself] -- that giant! Shot an arrow! Through the dude! And then they had the wolf!
RT: Yeah, but what about last week? The guy had his head popped off!
Peele: That was cool. That was cool. OK, difference of opinion.
RT: Do you have any predictions for the finale?
Peele: Alright, I'm just going to say it. Grey Worm and that girl are going to do it. Mother Dragon is going to kill her right-hand man. I'm just throwing them out here. I think Tyrion is going to escape the city.
RT: Do you think Jamie is going to help him?
Peele: That's really all it could be, right? What if Jamie and Tyrion take off together? Right now the people who have read the books are cringing at this interview.
RT: Let them cringe. It's fun to guess.
