Daughter of Ardie Fuqua, critically injured in Tracy Morgan crash, wants TMZ to remove gruesome video

The comedy community continues to hope for the full recoveries of comedians Tracy Morgan and Ardie Fuqua, who remain in the hospital following a horrific car crash on the New Jersey Turnpike that took the life of Morgan’s friend and writer James McNair early Saturday morning. Fuqua was opening for Morgan on Friday night at Dover Downs Hotel & Casino in Delaware and remains in critical condition with Morgan. Morgan’s assistant Jeffrey Millea is also still hospitalized. In an unfortunate case of tragedy porn, entertainment site TMZ has released a video they obtained of the wreckage post-crash, including people trying to pull the comedians from the turned-over vehicle.

Fuqua’s daughter, Krizya, took to Instagram in hopes of putting pressure on the website to take down the tasteless video (Laughspin is not linking out to the TMZ video, although it is easy to find on their website; we’ll let your conscience decide that one).

Comedian Louis C.K. has taken to Twitter to appeal to TMZ to remove the video:

It's so gross. A man died. But I guess it's like putting up celebrity autopsy photos and pictures of Michael Jackson being loaded into the ambulance. Gotta cash in and sensationalize. There are always people who'll look.

Once again I selected several tags (30 Rock, black celebrities, accident, legal/lawsuit) & they showed up in preview but not on the final post. Mods, is there any way to fix this?? It's not letting me add the tags in edit now!

It's a glitch with Twitter users. The only way for them to not vanish is pretty much to get a Livejournal. :\
lyrabjadesss Re: MODS HELP!12th-Jun-2014 02:08 pm (UTC)
Well dammit, I'm glad to know it's not me. I was so careful to add them all this time! Thanks for the tip, as soon as I can figure out how to recover my old purged account name I'll set one up!

Sorry in advance to anyone following this story who isn't going to notice this post because of lack of tags.....I tried!
vehiclesshockme Re: MODS HELP!12th-Jun-2014 02:09 pm (UTC)
Yeah it's definitely not you and I don't think it happens all the time either? It just gets pissy when Twitter users try to tag things. You can try opening a ticket with LJ Support as well. Maybe they can look into it.

No need to apologize! I just added the tags to it.

Oh wait you added them. Bless you, vehiclesshockme

the whole situation is sad
walkintowalls99 12th-Jun-2014 02:04 pm (UTC)
It's TMZ. People are expecting these losers to have any class?
qween_frostine 12th-Jun-2014 02:04 pm (UTC)
The video should never have been posted in the first place. I know it is TMZ and they have zero morals, but still. It was a horrific event and the video evidence of it doesn't need to be exploited for page views.
crazyventures 12th-Jun-2014 02:07 pm (UTC)
Just when you think TMZ can't get any lower . . .
ilouboutin 12th-Jun-2014 02:14 pm (UTC)
idk how harvey levin sleeps at night. oh yeah, on a bed of money. this "show me, show me" culture is so sick.
innocentanalyst 12th-Jun-2014 02:39 pm (UTC)
I'm not sure what state it was. But someone shared a story on Facebook about an off-duty policeman (I think he was a cop or fireman), saw an accident happen. The car caught on fire and he tried to help the people trapped in the car. Not only did no one help, people were getting as close as they can to the car to film it on their phone.
cocobone 12th-Jun-2014 03:24 pm (UTC)
Yeah I read about that. He said he was praying they would just pass because he was watching them burn alive. I felt so bad for the victims and then him having to live with the memory of that.
save_me_xenu 12th-Jun-2014 03:44 pm (UTC)
I watched the documentary There's Something Wrong with Aunt Diane and the cops on the scene said the same thing, people were trying to film it. It's kind of hypocritical of me to tsk tsk TMZ for this when I watched that documentary and they flat out showed Diane's body.
savannah_rose24 12th-Jun-2014 04:48 pm (UTC)
I watched that documentary too, but I was not expecting them to show her. Once I saw the hand, I figured that was it but then the flashes were too much. I was just thankful they didn't show the kids and I was surprised her family gave permission to show her.
noxonesxlooking 12th-Jun-2014 05:45 pm (UTC)
That documentary freaked me out. Could you imagine just driving and seeing a car coming at you FULL SPEED omg

fraises 12th-Jun-2014 02:21 pm (UTC)
This is so fucked up. I don't know why they just won't remove it.
phallus 12th-Jun-2014 02:21 pm (UTC)
TMZ will never.
mortimer123 12th-Jun-2014 02:21 pm (UTC)
The only way this can stop is if bottom feeders like TMZ stop shelling out money for shock video. Once word gets out that they aren't paying, people will stop recording videos to cash in on tragedies.
fruitymangoes 12th-Jun-2014 02:40 pm (UTC)
I hope they take it down
invisiblegirlx 12th-Jun-2014 02:42 pm (UTC)
they should never have shared it to begin with.
ani_di_franco 12th-Jun-2014 02:43 pm (UTC)
That's messed up. And I'm sure they paid for the video.
milastalens 12th-Jun-2014 03:20 pm (UTC)
wtf?! can't believe there is/was a video of that
danya 12th-Jun-2014 03:44 pm (UTC)
So sad. =( I feel badly for his family. All of their families. TMZ is garbage. I don't go there because of things like this. There shouldn't even BE a video but that's today's society. So gross.
francesbcobain 12th-Jun-2014 03:54 pm (UTC)
TMZ won't take it down. They're gross.
bizatchs 12th-Jun-2014 04:40 pm (UTC)
TMZ is the fucking worst.

One of my best friends passed away in a car accident earlier this year and I remember seeing pictures of her car/the accident on the local newspapers' website before I found out it was her. It was so fucking messed up.
urfvrtweapon 12th-Jun-2014 06:40 pm (UTC)
Sorry about your friend. That's so shitty. The media gives no fucks today.
adevyish 12th-Jul-2014 11:05 am (UTC)
I still can't believe they're making a movie about Elisa Lam (the girl who died in a water tank). I have a mutual friend with her sister from high school and every time I see some coverage or meme about her... ugh.
savannah_rose24 12th-Jun-2014 04:46 pm (UTC)
I will never understand people who film stuff like this instead of helping. Like they are the lowest pieces of human scum.

In NYC there was a photo of a guy about to get hit by a train on the front page of one of the newspapers. The guy who took the photo said he was trying to get the train driver's attention with the flash, but it was obvious bs. I remember he got death threats for that photo.
urfvrtweapon 12th-Jun-2014 06:42 pm (UTC)
I remember that. I think was the NY Post. A trashy tabloid, brought to the public by Rupert Murdoch. That cover was awful.
ty 12th-Jun-2014 05:08 pm (UTC)
I bet that lady made bank on selling that.
tkylem 12th-Jun-2014 05:20 pm (UTC)
This is absolutely despicable. Anyone on that staff who agreed to edit, encode, and post that video should be ASHAMED of themselves.
dilidilzz 12th-Jun-2014 05:31 pm (UTC)
I met Ardie last year, he's one of the funniest and most positive people out there.
I think TMZ is scum by sharing that video, Ardie lost his son two years ago to a Car Crash, imagine how fucked up it is for his family to have to see that footage!
