TVGN sets premiere date for The Situation's new reality series, 'The Sorrentinos'

'Jersey Shore' vet Michael Sorrentino returns to television for an eight-episode series focused on his family and his quest to launch a serious acting career.

We got a Situation again.TVGN announced Tuesday that "The Sorrentinos," a reality show starring former "Jersey Shore" tanboy Mike (The Situation) Sorrentino and his family, will debut July 15. It will run eight episodes and its storyline will include Sorrentino's efforts to launch a serious acting career. Just for the record, he also says he is now clean and sober, after entering drug rehab near the end of the "Jersey Shore" run. The series will also feature Sorrentino's family.

His sister Melissa is engaged and preparing for a wedding. She is also helping their mom, "Peaches," reenter the dating world — when she's not cooking Italian meals for the clan. Middle brother Marc is pursuing a career as a DJ while running the family tanning salon business. Frank, the eldest son, is also trying to break into acting.

The "Jersey Shore" crew has had mixed success with their post-"Shore" showbiz forays. Jennifer "JWOWW" Farley and Snooki have starred in a spin-off show, and Farley can currently be seen on "Marriage Boot Camp: Celebrities." Vinny Guadagnino did a talk show for MTV, with no word yet on whether it will be renewed for a second season.
