She has a reputation for making the most outrageous diva like demands. But superstar Mariah Carey decided to humour her exacting reputation by taking to the streets of New York, proving she could master taking all forms of public transports, whilst still dressed in a glamorous gown and towering heels.
In a series of short clips the 44-year-old singer posted on her Vine account, she can be seen crossing the road, accepting compliments off passersby, riding on the subway, and taking a yellow taxi. In the first mini clip Mariah can be seen poking fun at her glamorous appearance: "I figured as I'm under dressed I might as well take the subway," putting on her shades and hitching up her ball gown to cross a zebra crossing.
In the next shot she skips and twirls across the road singing behind her: "It is what it is." Next the Hero singer draws attention to the impracticality of her chosen commuting attire: "So this is like, I'm stepping all over this dress and I thought it could have been a good idea."
Before adding in the next clip: "It's like sparkles against filth, I'm just walking, it's been a while since I've taken the subway." In the next Vine which shows her climbing precariously down the subway stairs, the Honey singer acknowledges her unsuitable footwear saying "It's not like I love these shoes either," before the next clip which shows her taking a compliment from a passing admirer.
Mariah finishes her public transport escapade with a clip of her climbing out of a yellow taxi, exclaiming: "What a lengthy ride it's been." The Heartbreaker singer finished her mini Vine documentary of her venture into public transport with two Instagram snaps captioning a shot of her sitting on an orange plastic chair: "Glimpses of our joyride on the 1 train." And another creasing in laughter at her outrageously normal stunt, in the company of two suited male friends with the caption: "Laughs pon de subway."
Mariah's normal citizen like behaviour came after she debuted her cleavage enhancing sky blue gown at the Fresh Air Fund Salute To American Heroes Gala in New York City on Thursday night. The dress featured metallic threads and was teamed with fingerless silver gloves, glittering diamond earrings and silver strappy heels. The singer wore her hair loose and straight around her shoulders with smokey brown eye make-up and glossy pale pink lipstick completing the look.
So proud was the singer of her outfit, that she posted a snapshot of herself wearing it on her Instagram account. "Just leaving to see my friends from the Fresh Air Fund," she wrote next to a snapshot of herself striking a pose on the sidewalk. The star has been busy promoting her latest album - the snappily named Me.I Am Mariah... The Elusive Chanteuse - her first major studio album since 2009 effort Memoirs Of An Imperfect Angel.
"You would think I would be all about the singles-driven situation, and I am in a way, but with this particular album I want my fans to hear it as a body of work," she recently told Billboard. "This is my life since we last left off. Just picture a dot dot dot, and then here's the album."
The star used the interview to reassure fans that the record will not be her last, despite hinting as such during an interview on Andy Cohen's Watch What Happens Live. "I will always make music," she declared. "When I said this album could be my last, that's because tomorrow's not promised to anyone."
"When I release anything, it's difficult - it could be a performance that you don't love and it's like, 'Great, everybody's going to pick this apart', and that's it. What I'm trying to say is I wanted this to be something I could be proud of, whether it's like, 'Yay, No. one song!' and this and that. However things end up happening, we've all worked so hard."
lmfao at the videos of this bitch running around the NYC subway in her couture...at least she's doing promo!
