While his bandmates are going through a difficult time, Liam Payne will be celebrating after reconciling with girlfriend Sophia Smith.
The couple dated for eight months before separating earlier this month as One Direction began their world tour in South America.
Fans were previously concerned for Wolverhampton-born Liam after he posted a string of late-night cryptic messages about heartbreak. Heartthrob Liam wrote: "Can't be without you... Worse thing I ever did was let you go... No (sic) all I got left is the thought of you."
But the pair looked very much an item again as they walked hand in hand through a shopping centre in Birmingham today.
A passer-by filmed the couple walking together as Liam finally appears to have won his girl back.
Liam tweeted his fans asking them for their support to "restore sanity" at the One Direction concert in Sunderland, after a video of his bandmates appearing to smoke a "joint" was leaked online.
The heartthrob singer took to the social networking site before the band stormed the stage in the pouring rain, writing: "Right everybody concert time lets try and keep the pg rating lol for Christ sake somebody help me restore sanity".
It comes after a video of his bandmate Zayn Malik smoking on a suspicious roll-up was leaked online , with Louis Tomlinson giggling in the background as he took the video.
Liam began his tweets by describing his fans' reaction as "weird s***" and asking everyone to calm down.
He wrote: "Woah there's some pretty weird s*** going on ATM everyone just calm down and don't do anything stupid cuz u can't take it back.
"I know some people are having a laugh and that's all well and good but some people will take this s*** serious so I suggest we stop.
"Today is such a weird day why don't we do a #wearahoodyfor1d or a #WearAsManyClothesAsYouCanAtOnceFor1D."
He then added his final tweet asking for support, before writing after the show: "Great gig Sunderland my clothes are soaked god damn rain !!!! We still had fun right?"
Some fans reportedly threatened to set fire to their Sunderland tickets after seeing the video.
But Zayn and Louis were all smiles - albeit a bit quieter than usual - as they took to the stage in front of a screaming crowd of 48,000 in the pouring rain tonight.
The band arrived on stage 15 minutes late but full of their usual humour and liveliness - despite THAT 'joint smoking' video being leaked hours before.
Harry Styles and Liam took centre stage when it came to introductions with the crowd, while the usually loud Louis hung back with Zayn.
Liam joked his jeans were "too tight" as Harry told the audience they were "beautiful".
Meanwhile Niall patted shamed Louis on the back after their opening songs.
But keen to have his say, Louis thanked fans for their support: "I want to say a massive thank you to fans and you guys for putting us here tonight."
A fairly lacklustre Zayn followed Louis in praising fans too: "I want to say a massive, massive thank you to each and every single one of you for supporting us from all our early shows to this very day.
"I want you to know how much that means."
But don't worry, Louis was soon back to his jokey self.
While Liam was making a heart-felt speech thanking the fans and boys for "the last four years", Louis joked "oh, go home".
To which Liam responded: "What do you mean, I was saying I love you, you bugger. What can you do with a kid like him?"
Then Louis got Liam to slide across the puddle that had formed on the stage. As you do.
Neither of the boys acknowledged the video directly.
happy for them. he was clearly torn up over the breakup
