Tyra Banks is producing a docuseries that follows the lives of five transgender women for VH1. (Related: Just a couple of weeks ago, Orange Is the New Black's Laverne Cox announced that she's producing a documentary about transgender youth for MTV.)
Banks's series is slated for eight hour-long episodes and will focus on the lives of Carmen Carrera, who was recently signed to Elite Model Management; Giselle, a college grad who's preparing for her sexual reassignment surgery; Natalia, a beauty consultant dealing with an unsupportive family; Sidney, "the ultimate party girl," according to Deadline; and Victory, who's on her way to being a doctor in the face of discrimination.
The show is tentatively called TransAmerica. (Not to be confused with the 2005 movie of the same name starring Desperate Housewife Felicity Huffman.)
