The Wizarding World of Harry Potter will open a new ride at Universal Studios Orlando this summer, Harry Potter and the Escape From Gringotts.
If that isn’t enticing enough to pack up your bags and get in line for the new addition right now, Alan Gilmore, the art director for both the rides and the films, told MTV the original trio will be reuniting to film new scenes for the rides. That’s right, Harry (Daniel Radcliffe), Hermione (Emma Watson), and Ron (Rupert Grint) are “regrouping for one last adventure.” They will not be reusing scenes from previous films, but rather filming all new scenes for fans to enjoy.
“It’s all new, it’s a brand new film,” Gilmore explained, “and it’s absolutely film quality, involving the films team, a merging of the film team and the Universal production team.” But that’s not all. Gilmore continues to add excitement by saying the trio will be joined by fellow characters He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named and Bellatrix Lestrange (Helena Bonham-Carter). “My motto is, we’re building a real place, we’re not building a theme place,” Gilmore said. “I want to walk in, and feel like they’re actually in London, or actually in Gringotts.”
And that is evident through the park’s attention to detail. Much like Gringotts Bank in the movies, the theme park version features a fire breathing dragon and the lobby is filled with hard-at-work goblins. The new features will open this summer, but a specific date has not been announced yet.
