Set in the world of ancient Egypt, action-adventure drama Hieroglyph follows a notorious thief who is plucked from prison to serve the Pharoah, forcing him to navigate palace intrigue, seductive concubines, criminal underbellies and divine sorcerers, as he races to stop the downfall of one of history’s greatest civilizations. Hieroglyph will likely premiere next season.
The Hollywood Reporter exclusively debuts the first image introducing the core characters, all seated for a dramatic official class photo. English actor Max Brown (Beauty and the Beast, Spooks) plays Ambrose, the thief who works for the Pharoah (Reece Ritchie). Rounding out the rest of the cast is Condola Rashad as Nefertari, the Pharoah's half-sister, John Rhys-Davies as Vocifer, Caroline Ford as Peshet, Antony Bunsee as Rawser and Kelsey Chow as Lotus.
Back in October, Fox gave a straight-to-series 13-episode order for the ambitious action-adventure series from Pacific Rim and Clash of the Titans writer Travis Beacham. Being Human's Anna Fricke will serve as showrunner on the 20th Century TV/Chernin Entertainment property.
Chernin Entertainment's Peter Chernin and Katherine Pope, along with Beacham and Fringe’s Miguel Sapochnik, will serve as executive producers. Sapochnik, who helmed Repo Man, directs the premiere.
