Princess Elle Fanning post

Instead of getting her driver's license or tweeting or going to movies with her pals, Elle Fanning is celebrating her sweet 16 as a princess. But she's no rookie ingénue—a veteran of 22 films in 14 years, this very busy beauty is ready to take her rightful place on the throne.

those book titles are killing me a little bit.

future a-lister?

she's a-list already

you don't get to be everywhere (with good reason) AND a Miu Miu campaign without being a-list
aristobrit 5th-May-2014 09:22 pm (UTC)
I like her, but she's not A list. I don't think she can get a movie greenlit on her name alone, and that's the definition of an A lister.

Those top pics that look like child porn are totally rips offs of Jodie Foster in Taxi Driver, so zero points for originality.

She is a terrific actress.
I really like her and her career choices.

all nepotism...no appeal

preciosatt 5th-May-2014 09:42 pm (UTC)
Is it nepotism is two kids come up at the same time? It's not like Dakota was paying people off so Elle could get roles or making producers cast her.
ion_square 5th-May-2014 10:20 pm (UTC)
Oh please. It's nepotism. She had a sister in the industry, who was doing really well as a child, so she had all the connections ready for her unlike some random person with zero connections/doesn't know anyone who can further them along.

Her little sister probably got cast on "fanning" alone.
slightlyleft 6th-May-2014 05:46 am (UTC)
lol hollywood runs on nepotism.

terrible cover photo... serving me origami face

What's with this idolization of children and youth? I like Elle, she needs to be in seventeen or something appropriate to her age.
forceiswithyou 5th-May-2014 07:55 pm (UTC)
IA... the fact that she's only sixteen combined with the obviously sexual nature of some of the photos... it really bothers me tbh. I find it pretty sick. I like her, I'm not criticizing her, but like LOOK at some of these shots. Naked on the bed in a bra gazing up vulnerably? Backlit in a sheer dress by an open window? :/

at first I read your comment and was like wait wut 16
then ohhh elle not Dakota doh
wearescientists 5th-May-2014 08:23 pm (UTC)
i'm pretty sure a male took these photos because men (obviously) have a different style than women and tend to take photos from a dominating perspective (ie- down at the women/girls).

but society is fascinated by youth and youth is what keeps us alive. though, the way the photos are taken just make me think that these men are inspired by terry.

im vv not here for male photographers, obviously. helmut newton ruined everything for me. but then gay photographers like ryan mcginley are a+++++++ (im just a ryan stan tbh)
mrcumberbatch 5th-May-2014 10:41 pm (UTC)
mte..in the first set she isnt wearing a top in most of them. and in the ones she is, its completely see through. those wardrobe decisions are just fucking creepy
gypsy_leerose 5th-May-2014 08:00 pm (UTC)
I agree some of these pics are age appropriate but the one of her lying in her bikini is just not ok at all. It's disturbing how these young kids are sexualized ..Hollywood is a cesspool
chocomilkbag 5th-May-2014 08:16 pm (UTC)
ia it's obviously hyperemphasized in hollywood but tbh it's present in like...the entire cultureal landscape. then we have adults watching other adults play high schoolers on television, everyone talking about the glory days, the idea that the best years of your life are before 20...fucked up man. it's also depressing as you are leaving that stage of your life >_>

and ofc the fetishization of young people is even more troubling and problematic. like that pic of elle in the bikini is just kind of weird. not that a shot of her in a bikini is weird in general but the angle, pose etc of that. ia put her in seventeen or something.
mioneste 5th-May-2014 07:56 pm (UTC)
Some of these photos really pretty. I can't believe she's only 16 tho...

Interview is the only mag I'm still subscribed to but I find myself not really reading it when it comes. IDK but I like how they have peers/colleagues conduct the interviews, I feel like it makes it more relaxed.
wearescientists 5th-May-2014 08:21 pm (UTC)
i just like the photos tbh
