'The Other Woman' hits number 1 at Box Office while Nicki Minaj auditions for more movie roles

Women like movies, too. That very obvious statement was reinforced for the umpteenth time by The Other Woman, which earned $24.7 million from a predominantly female audience this weekend. The movie took first place at the box office, easily defeating three-time winner Captain America: The Winter Soldier.

Nicki Minaj has revealed that she is trying out for more acting roles after appearing in The Other Woman. In the new comedy, Minaj plays the assistant to Cameron Diaz's lawyer character Carly, who discovers that her boyfriend isn't just married but also having other affairs.

Minaj told MTV News that her "very tiny" role in The Other Woman was enough to wet her feet. "It gave me an idea as to what the world would be like being on a set and being on a trailer for hours. And now that I know it's something I can do, I think I want to expand a role eventually," she said.

The Pink Print rapper also revealed: "I am going on auditions, and I'm trying to find the right role with the right director and the right writers. I want to be part of something from the beginning stage this time, and I want the role to be custom-made for me."

However, Minaj said that she doesn't want to do a "humungous role right now" as she is getting ready to complete her new album. Minaj also shared the kind of projects she would like to be involved with in the future.

She said: "The thing is I have such a versatile personality. Some days I feel like I wanna do a Will Ferrell comedy; some days I feel like I wanna do more like a Set It Off-type of movie with some other young black actresses and like creating a movement with that. And sometimes I think, maybe I could do X-Men or something."
