Peter Beale actor reveals Lucy Beale murder plot is ‘challenging’ and says he'll miss Hetti Bywater.
What on earth would Ian Beale say? EastEnders’ Ben Hardy has stripped off for this month’s Attitude magazine, revealing more than just his acting skills.
23-year-old Hardy, who plays Peter Beale on the BBC soap, has taken centre stage this week as the family react to Lucy’s murder.
“I’m really sad that [Hetti Bywater is] leaving, we were really good friends,” says Hardy.
In some of the most emotional scenes EastEnders has seen, Peter and Ian have struggled to cope with Lucy’s death.
Hardy admits filming such emotional scenes was daunting, but says he was excited to tackle a bigger storyline.
“The reactions to the death of Lucy were really challenging but also something I was really looking forward to getting stuck into.”
Looking back at when he first arrived on Albert Square, Hardy says he was a bit nervous meeting original cast member Adam Woodyatt.
“The first time I met him I got a bit flustered, a bit bright red,” he says.
But even funnier, the actor says he still calls him ‘Ian’ from time to time: “I was very mindful of it, at the start.
“But then you realise everyone kind of does it. I go, ‘Oh, Billy – I mean Perry.’ It happens all the time, so everyone’s cool about it.”
Hardy, who is the sixth actor to play Peter Beale, joined the soap in 2013 and is on the long list for Sexiest Male at this year’s British Soap Awards.
