After appearing alongside the ninth and tenth Doctors, John Barrowman admits he'd love to return to 'Doctor Who.' Everyone's favourite intergalactic chancer, Captain Jack Harkness, hasn't been seen since appearing in the spin-off series, 'Torchwood'. But it looks as though John Barrowman would love to return to 'Doctor Who'… and thinks Peter Capaldi is going to be fantastic.
In an interview with Nerd B**tards, the 'Doctor Who' fan-favourite admitted that he'd love to return to the show… even if he has no idea whether or not he'll be back. "I have no idea," he said. "I mean, that's not my decision, that's a decision for the BBC.The thing is, I go around with Eve [Myles] and people to these conventions and we see the humongous following that we have and also the hunger that there is for 'Torchwood'. If I'm asked to play Captain Jack Harkness again, I would do it at the drop of a hat."
Of course, there's been a real clamouring from the fans to find out what happened to Captain Jack and the rest of Torchwood after the events of 'Miracle Day'… and Barrowman seems to think there's still plenty of story left in his character. "I think there's a lot more to tell, there's a lot more out there," he said. "There are those missing years that Jack talked about, there's how he becomes 'The Face of Boe', there's all sorts of things. But it's not up to me - it's up to Russell, Julie Gardner, and the BBC."
But with an all-new (slightly-more mature) Doctor, it looks as though Captain Jack might have to be on his best behaviour. Thankfully, he's already worked with Capaldi before on the recent 'Torchwood' series. "I've worked with [Peter]," he said. "I think he's a great actor. I think he'll be very very good."
Of course, whether or not he gets to work with Capaldi on 'Doctor Who' remains to be seen. But I can't help thinking that bringing back Barrowman would be a stroke of genius. And a very welcome addition to the next series of 'Doctor Who'.
Would you rather have Jack meet 12 or another season of Torchwood, ONTD?
