First trailer for Flowers in the Attic sequel, Petals On the Wind

A brief, uber-dramatic recap of Flowers in the Attic? Check. A shot of Heather Graham in a gorgeous ball gown, torching her ancestral home with an ornate candelabra? Brother-boning, ballet, and literal petals on literal wind? Check, check, and mate.

In short: Why are you not already watching the very first trailer for Petals on the Wind, Lifetime’s juicy followup to its smash hit Flowers in the Attic adaptation? The film features returning stars Graham, Ellen Burstyn, and Dylan Bruce, as well as Rose McIver and Wyatt Nash in parts originated by Kiernan Shipka and Mason Dye. (The sequel picks up 10 years after the events of Flowers, meaning it’s really an adaptation of the second half of Petals. Which is not necessarily a bad thing, because the second half of Petals is just as insane as the first.)

Check out the deliciously melodramatic teaser below, all set to the haunting strains of Kelly Sweet’s take on “In the Air Tonight” – or risk Withered Old Ellen Burstyn haunting your dreams forevermore.

ONTD incest posts are horrifying!
landwarinasia 19th-Apr-2014 12:57 am (UTC)
Didn't the first one come out like two months ago?!

Can't wait for this amazing mess tbh.
liliana_ 19th-Apr-2014 12:58 am (UTC)
So basically this movie is going to make me ship Chris/Cathy, huh? Because he's surprisingly hot.

This looks a lot different than the book though. What up with Corinne in an institution? And is there no Dr. Paul?
missyxxmisch 19th-Apr-2014 01:25 am (UTC)
ya wow the casting for Cathy and Chris is SO HOT!Better then I would have thought. e-e I never shipped them or anything, but this sequel tv-movie might make me. Though i doubt it cos I never liked Chris and his flop personality.
liliana_ 19th-Apr-2014 01:29 am (UTC)
Right? I hated Chris. So whiny and clingy, and kind of fucked up with his whole, "sometimes I wish we never left the attic". Eww.

But he looks hot here, and less wussy than book Chris.
reckoningnight 19th-Apr-2014 02:01 am (UTC)
this is 10 yrs after flowers so maybe paul's dead or they're just gonna skip that and pretend chris and cathy provided for themselves
lilrongal 19th-Apr-2014 06:37 am (UTC)
yea that guy is.... omg. i wouldn't kick him out of bed for eating crackers.

According to IMDB, the following characters/actors have been cast:

New cast members:
Cathy - Rose McIver (Once Upon a Time, Masters of Sex)
Chris - Wyatt Nash (Pretty Little Liars)
Carrie - Bailey Buntain (Bunheads)
Julian - Will Kemp (Matthew Bourne's Swan Lake)

Other characters/actors listed on IMDB:
Dr. Reeves (I'm assuming this is Paul Sheffield from the book) - Nick Searcy (Justified)
Sarah Reeves (Paul's wife in flashbacks? Or his mean sister Amanda?) - Whitney Hoy (Friday Night Lights)
George Korov (Julian's father) - Ravil Isyanov
Yolanda (Cathy's roommate) - Stephanie Kim
Miss Calhoun - Molly Hagan (who I will always remember from Herman's Head but is probably better known as Sister Roberta on Seinfeld)
Alex Conroy (Carrie's boyfriend) - Ross Phillips
Henny - Ellia English
Ed (??) - Jesse Einstein

So based on that info, I think that Dr. Paul and Carrie's time at boarding school will be dealt with at least minimally in flashbacks.

Corinne isn't sent to an institution until If There Be Thorns (she used the insanity plea to avoid going to jail) so I don't know what clip was about. I guess they're going to try to make her more sympathetic since she's screaming about wanting to see her kids.

damnnn @ "goodbye mother" lmao
keyko101 19th-Apr-2014 01:01 am (UTC)
oh i'm so about these horrible movies

i need to read the books though
reckoningnight 19th-Apr-2014 02:02 am (UTC)
the books are gold. you will not regret it except it'll make the movies even worse in comparison. like I'm already having regrets just watching this trailer
karis_azura 20th-Apr-2014 02:33 am (UTC)
That is the only drawback to reading the books...they make these flop tv movies look cringe worthy even for Lifetime!
letsjamtogether 19th-Apr-2014 03:43 am (UTC)
The first book actually halfway works decently as a gothic horror novel, along the lines of Uncle Silas.

The second one is just straight up crazy.
goldengal1193 19th-Apr-2014 01:02 am (UTC)
Yaaaas. I hope ONTD has another live post.
sursumcorda 19th-Apr-2014 01:02 am (UTC)
i can't believe this is the same ellen burstyn who slayed me in political animals
reckoningnight 19th-Apr-2014 02:02 am (UTC)
and requiem. maybe this is fun for her or something lol
_erin_go_bragh 19th-Apr-2014 03:12 am (UTC)
She was amazing in Requiem. Makes me cry every time...
karis_azura 20th-Apr-2014 02:35 am (UTC)
lol She just really doesn't seem to care here....(still slays everyone else though)
letsjamtogether 19th-Apr-2014 03:37 am (UTC)
Maybe she's a fan of the books? They would have come out and been hugely popular at a time she was still relatively young.
lilrongal 19th-Apr-2014 06:40 am (UTC)
but you know i really loved how she played off a lot of the subtext in the FITA movie. i'm looking forward to seeing her again. maybe they hired her to give the movie a bit of credibility.
violetsapphire 19th-Apr-2014 01:02 am (UTC)
Wow, that was quick.
williammiller 19th-Apr-2014 01:02 am (UTC)
Heather Graham's acting is atrocious.
ghostsaddle 19th-Apr-2014 01:14 am (UTC)
it was SO. BAD.
shining_starsxx 19th-Apr-2014 01:59 am (UTC)
She was turrible.
gorlplz 19th-Apr-2014 01:06 am (UTC)

Walked in on my brother having sex on the couch last week. I screamed and threw my drink at them, because that is something I never needed to see ever in my life and I wish I could unsee. Also I bought that fucking couch and those assholes didn't even have the courtesy to put down a fucking towel.

reckoningnight 19th-Apr-2014 02:29 am (UTC)
I haven't but I have suspicions about my oldest two kids. I was taking the trash out once and caught them about to kiss. How can I be sure? My usual stalking and spying isn't yielding satisfying results
hisjulliet 19th-Apr-2014 06:53 am (UTC)
holyfrijoles_2 19th-Apr-2014 01:07 am (UTC)
i see heather graham has still not learned how to act in between filming the first one and this one.
muhnaplusmuhna 19th-Apr-2014 01:11 am (UTC)
They might succeed with the incest shipping
burleyqgirl 19th-Apr-2014 01:40 am (UTC)
If there's one thing the internet has taught me it is that people do not give a fuck* about incest as long as the actors in the portrayal are hot.

reckoningnight 19th-Apr-2014 03:08 am (UTC)
I couldn't ship Chris/Cathy when I read the books because I found book Chris and Cathy both so annoying and unlikable. By the time I got halfway through Petals on the Wind I was like OMG CHRIS GET OVER IT even though I get why he's so warped and attached to her, and CHRIST ON THE CROSS, CATHY, SHUT THIS SHIT DOWN despite the same understanding. idk I just remember bein real grossed out by the scene in the kitchen, in If There Be Thorns, where one of the little boys sees them together sexually and if I hadn't accepted it by that point it was never gonna happen
ghostsaddle 19th-Apr-2014 01:15 am (UTC)
are the siblings played by the same people?! because the son looks fiiiiiine and i wasn't checking for him in the last movie at all
reckoningnight 19th-Apr-2014 02:03 am (UTC)
no not the same people. this is set ten years later, they got slightly older looking actors

lbr, flowers cathy was not passing for 16 or w/e
piratesswoop 19th-Apr-2014 02:07 am (UTC)
she was between twelve and fifteen during their time i the attic i think. the twins were supposed to be four and chris was fourteen.
ghostsaddle 19th-Apr-2014 03:03 am (UTC)
oh thank god, i didn't think my eyesight was getting that bad!!!
mangosmuggler 19th-Apr-2014 01:15 am (UTC)
that movie was sooooo fucked up!!!

I thought Heather Graham was a miscast though. I just don't think she looks evil/bitchy enough facially. Her mom in the movie though: holy shit, she was scary!
liliana_ 19th-Apr-2014 01:19 am (UTC)
Corinne's not really evil though. More just shallow and stupid. I know I'm in the extreme minority on this, but I don't mind Heather Graham because she's basically as flighty and vacant as I pictured Corinne.
heart_iswild 19th-Apr-2014 01:41 am (UTC)
didnt corinne try to kill her kids? and succeed with one of them?
mangosmuggler 19th-Apr-2014 02:43 am (UTC)
Ohhh. Well, I didn't read the books, so that's why I dont' know the character as well
divafit 19th-Apr-2014 06:38 am (UTC)
i love heather graham and tbf i've never read the books but from my understanding of corinne in the film, hg was the perfect embodiment of the character. her delivery was just awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwful.

mjgchick 19th-Apr-2014 03:50 pm (UTC)
You're not the only one who thought the casting for Corrine made sense. Heather might not be the greatest actress but I don't think she's as bad as people think.
