We already have one potential reunion for comedy duo Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly floating around with Devil’s Night, which Sony optioned last October. The studio is also interested in another project, Border Guards, which boasts the additional inducement of reuniting the pair with director Adam McKay.
Sony has hired Peep Show / Fresh Meat / Four Lions veteran Jesse Armstrong to write the script for the embryonic new comedy, which would see Ferrell and Reilly as two earnest pals who decide that their task in life should be protecting America’s borders from illegal immigrants. Yet they somehow manage to become stranded in Mexico without identification, meaning that they must – of course! – sneak back into the US across the very border they were attempting to guard.
We haven’t seen Ferrell and Reilly co-star directly together since Step Brothers, so this is a tempting prospect, even if it might have to wait for everyone’s schedules to open up. McKay and Ferrell last collaborated on Anchorman 2 (which boasted a Reilly cameo as the ghost of Stonewall Jackson, a spirit with a taste for souls).
Yeah, this sounds like it'll go over real well. Any POC who signs up for this is an idiot.
