Quinn (Dianna Agron)
The Makeup: "The look for Quinn has always been all-natural American cheerleader," Mitchell says. "We started off using a lot of girly pinks, but since she matured, we settled on neutral shades and a great black eyeliner." After applying Make Up For Ever HD Foundation, Mitchell lines the eye with Aqua Liner in black, then smudges it with a matte black shadow "for extra oomph."
The Hair: "We actually have clip-in extensions to keep continuity in her character's length since Dianna chopped her hair," Baker explains. "But we like to shape her locks into soft curls that sort of flirt around the face!"
Santana (Naya Rivera)
The Makeup: "Santana is our siren," says Mitchell. "She can pull off anything, but we normally focus on a dramatic smoky eye with lots of lashes." Key makeup artist Melissa Buell utilizes an ombré shadow technique that goes from the lash line to the brow bone (usually with neutral tones like Espresso and Chamois from Makeup Designory), layering with a cream liner and a set of false eyelashes.
The Hair: "Santana's look has changed," explains Baker. "It used to be a high, Cheerios ponytail. But after she graduated, it became free-flowing!" Since Naya is one to experiment with her hair in real life, Baker created consistency for her character by designing a full lace wig.
Mercedes (Amber Riley)
The Makeup: "When we first started the show, Mercedes was all about purple eyeshadow. Now, we've gone a bit more sophisticated," Mitchell explains. Shimmery neutral ones, like M.A.C. Amber Lights, and a precisely defined lash line using M.A.C.
The Hair: "After winning Dancing with the Stars, Amber came back to Glee with a sassy collarbone bob," Baker says. "She has long layers, which allows me to style it with soft, one-inch diameter curls."
Rachel (Lea Michele)
The Makeup: "Rachel's real signature look is a modern Audrey Hepburn," Mitchell says. "The skin is fresh, there's a flushed cheek, a soft lip, and a cat eye." To perfect her complexion, Mitchell relies on Armani Luminous Silk Foundation, then preps her eyelids with Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion to ensure the liner stays all day.
The Hair: "Rachel has been consistently classy, and Lea and I have always designed her looks together for the show. I love using the T3 1 1/4" iron to style her waves away from her face and perfect her trademark fringe. She prefers her fringe down, but sometimes we style it to the side."
Tina (Jenna Ushkowitz)
The Makeup: "Tina started goth, then evolved to a more modern and clean look," Mitchell says. "We do a matte skin by applying HD Foundation, then dusting over it with Lancôme Dual Finish Versatile Powder Makeup. Then we add some Diorshow mascara and a soft lip with Laura Mercier Rouge Nouveau Weightless Lip Colour in Coy."
The Hair: "Tina used to have blue streaks, but now she has pretty caramel ombré highlights!" Baker says. "Since it's colored, we need to keep it long and healthy. My secret for protecting while heat styling is to mix 2/3 of Aquage Thermal Spray with 1/3 of MoroccanOil Protect in a spray bottle, then mist it lightly. Then, we curl it after that!"
