I Origins

Mike Cahill new film, I ORIGINS, takes place in the same realm of speculative fiction as his last movie, ANOTHER EARTH. Only, instead of a duplicate planet hidden behind the sun, it's a tale of science versus faith, reincarnation versus despair, and life versus death.

Cast: Michael Pitt, Brit Marling, Astrid Bergés-Frisbey, Steven Yeun, Archie Panjabi

I ORIGINS will be released in select theaters on July 18, 2014.

theres a guy at my new job that from behind looks exactly like michael pitt. every time he turns around i'm like, oh, but he's still super cute. he's just not michael pitt.
luna_incognita 11th-Apr-2014 02:32 am (UTC)
I feel the same but with the dreamers.
iceynickles 11th-Apr-2014 02:55 am (UTC)
I couldn't even finish that movie once D:
sunsettwist 10th-Apr-2014 06:26 pm (UTC)
michael pitt is beautiful but this looks meh. terrible title, too.
revertigo 10th-Apr-2014 06:30 pm (UTC)
yay astrid! i hated Another Earth though.

i feel like that's the theme with brit marling's (whom i adore) films. the high concept always hook me but then i get tricked into watching a nicholas sparks melodrama lol
revertigo 10th-Apr-2014 06:32 pm (UTC)
that said i hope THE EAST is different!
ke77we 10th-Apr-2014 06:35 pm (UTC)
The East is different. It's really good. I do think the end was a little underwhelming and anticlimactic, but overall it's really engaging and dark. Loved it, tbh.
karinette001 10th-Apr-2014 06:38 pm (UTC)
The East was great tbh
darkintragedy 10th-Apr-2014 06:45 pm (UTC)
i loved another earth!

brit marling hasn't let me down with a bad film yet. even arbitrage!
betelgeuse 10th-Apr-2014 09:26 pm (UTC)
the east is terrible
srslyy 10th-Apr-2014 09:47 pm (UTC)
I really liked the east
wheresandrae 10th-Apr-2014 06:34 pm (UTC)
the ones she helps write at least ia, they're not good. High-concept that falls on its own face.
wheresandrae 10th-Apr-2014 06:33 pm (UTC)
I hope this is better than Another Earth
beatlesluv 10th-Apr-2014 06:34 pm (UTC)
I thought this was for Origins skincare (one of my favs lol). It looks pretty interesting. :D
teamsienna 10th-Apr-2014 06:39 pm (UTC)
my exboyfriend when he had long hair looked like michael pitt. when he had short hair, he looked like macaulay culkin in home alone. i honestly couldn't handle it after a while.
srslyy 10th-Apr-2014 09:48 pm (UTC)
aw he sounds adorbs
littlehayzay 10th-Apr-2014 06:40 pm (UTC)
You know what film I liked was that one with Kirsten Dunst about the 2 earths, one world "right side up" and the other an upside down world, was pretty interesting. How was another earth? I want to see it.
luckythree3 10th-Apr-2014 07:12 pm (UTC)
I've been wanting to watch the KD one. I think Jim Sturgess is in it too?
littlehayzay 10th-Apr-2014 07:14 pm (UTC)
Yeah I couldn't remember his name he was pretty good in it and the story centers on him much more than Kirsten
whowants_candy 10th-Apr-2014 07:25 pm (UTC)
upside down was fucking terrible. which sucked because i really wanted to like it.

loved every movie with her so far

sound of my voice
another earth

but i think im going to avoid this trailer because /film says it gives away some of the surprising elements in the film :(

Wow, for a second I thought that said After Earth, and I was like, bit rude to compare them, isn't it? But I really liked Another Earth and I need moar Michael Pitt in my life, so hooray.
lilorocks 10th-Apr-2014 06:57 pm (UTC)
