Saturday Nostalgia Post : Lady Singers/Musicians In Animation

Happy Saturday ONTD ! In honor of the recent announcement of the Jem and The Holograms movie here is a post to celebrate women in animation who know how the rock the mic.

Series : Barbie and The Rockers

The series was Mattel's answer to Hasbro's Jem and The Holograms . Despite superior animation , Barbie and The Rockers was not as celebrated as their competition but that doesn't mean the series didn't have good tunes.

Francine Frensky

Series : Arthur

Who knew that Elwood City's sports goddess had an incredible voice ???

Jem and The Holograms

Glamour , Glitter , Fashion and Fame ! Jem and the Holograms had it all and took anything that Josie and The Pussycats had to offer to the next level . With amazing character designs and Britta Philip's heavenly vocals you couldn't go wrong .

Josie and The Pussycats

Cheesy as hell but still iconic and boss . With their own comic books, television series , and live action film ( that was not needed btw ) Josie and The Pussycats set the bar high and are still kicking ass in 2014 and show that women can headline series and be awesome .

Mina / Minako Aino
Series : Sailor Moon

Aside from being the best Sailor Scout and being fabulous at Volleyball , queen Mina had another great talent.

Nana Osaki

Series : Nana

( using a song from the live action movie cuz it's the best )

Nana is a great series about love , friendship and sadness as two women who share the same name become good friends and chase their dreams . It also has a fantastic soundtrack and much like BECK , if you are a fan of music this series is highly recommended  . With all of that said listen to Nana Osaki run shit as she provides the lead vocals for the Blackstones like the queen that she is.

Susie Carmicheal
Series : Rugrats / All Grown Up

Should have known Susie Carmichael was the HBIC considering how she was never here for Angelica's shit. After she sang at Didi's baby shower , her talent stuck with her going into the All Grown Up series . In usual Susie Carmichael fashion she let Angelica have it and shut her down with her fabulous vocals . She had a stand out song " Look In The Mirror " but it's hard to find on the internet unfortunately .

Series : Final Fantasy

Okay I know this is a video game but I had to include Yuna because of her awesome concerts in this game and her back up dancers during the Real Emotion scene give me life tbh.
