Taylor Swift has purchased two duplex penthouses in a boutique building in the heart of New York's TriBeCa district.
The Real Estalker blog believes she is the mystery buyer of the units, previously owned by director Peter Jackson. Jackson listed the adjacent duplex penthouses, which cover the top two floors of the building, back in November for $19,950,000. The following month, he also listed the penthouses individually for $5.1 million and $14,850,000.
The smaller of the two units (2,440 square foot) has three bedrooms and 3.5 bathrooms, with wide plank wood floors, exposed duct work, exposed brick walls, and a 12-foot beamed ceiling. The loft also boasts a 1,000 square foot private roof terrace. Listing details for the second and significantly more spacious penthouse show six proper bedrooms, 5.5 bathrooms, a coat closet lined foyer and grand double-height stair hall, and a 1,200+ square foot combination living/dinning room with fireplace, wet bar and a 12-foot exposed beam ceiling. There are two terraces on the upper floor that together encompass more than 2,100 square feet. The smaller, north facing terrace is private to the master suite and the much larger, wrap around one on the south end also has views to the east and west.
In the listing, Lara Nangle of the Corcoran Group urged the prospective buyer to do what Jackson planned but never did: combine both units into a duplex with a private multi-level wraparound roof deck. If combined, the result would be a 6,100-square-foot five-bedroom, five-bathroom duplex with a 4,000-square-foot private outdoor space and 1,900-square-foot two-bedroom, three-bathroom guest apartment with a separate entrance. "Because the lofts are adjacent, there is an opportunity for the new owner to carry out an internal reconfiguration/combination and roof terrace remodelling to create their dream layout, incorporating all their personal specifications and creating a spectacular roof terrace oasis."
Swift already has bases in Nashville and Beverly Hills. Last year, she purchased a beachfront summer home in Watch Hill, RI.
