Princess Sophie Turner talks Sansa Stark in season 4

Game of Thrones' Sophie Turner: Sansa will "begin to manipulate" in series four
By ELLIE WALKER-ARNOTT

Sansa, the quiet, sometime simpering Stark sister in hit HBO fantasy series Game of Thrones is set to become a little more "bad ass" in series four.

According to Sophie Turner, the 18-year-old actress who plays her, Sansa is poised to "manipulate" and "seduce."

"I think [Sansa]'s a bad ass in a very different way [to Ayra Stark, her younger sister]. She’s like a sponge - she’s absorbing everything she’s learned from Cersei and Margaery. She’s put on the façade of her former self for this past year and she’s finally going to drop that and begin to manipulate some people," Turner said at last night's UK premiere of the show's much-anticipated fourth series.

She added that she thinks Sansa's been most influenced by evil King Joffrey's new bride-to-be Margaery Tyrell, saying: "Cersei is just outwardly vile whereas Margaery puts on this façade of a sweet, innocent little girl but she’s scheming behind it...[Sansa]’s learning. She’s going to learn how to use her femininity to get what she wants, seduce..."

From the teasers and trailers we've been treated to, we can see that the fourth series of Game of Thrones will feature the eldest Stark girl coming to terms with the brutal deaths of her mother and brother at the Red Wedding. Recently married to Tyrion Lannister against her will, Sansa is living a life of unhappiness. But maybe not for long, if her newly found scheming skills get her anywhere...

Source.
Ummmm @ "seduce." I'll reserve judgment until I see what they have planned, but I don't like that word. (As always, please be mindful of using spoiler cuts/spoiler warnings.)

do ppl rly get upset about spoilers when the book is almost 10 year old? read the books if u care that much sheesh

alaynestone 26th-Mar-2014 07:23 pm (UTC)
People have been talking about show spoilers for episodes that haven't aired yet and that are totally different from the books. That's mainly what I'm referring to.

i just realized that lucifer was a kitten here.

omg
I also like that Drizella's hair was lighter
julietislimited 26th-Mar-2014 07:53 pm (UTC)
I ruined a few deaths on facebook and people came at me for it. I don't care though. I read the books and will discuss them as I please.
sparkfactory 26th-Mar-2014 08:26 pm (UTC)
someone came at me once for a sherlock holmes spoiler and i was like "you have had since the 19th century to catch up and u chose not to sooo..."
cyberghostface 26th-Mar-2014 08:32 pm (UTC)
Part of me agrees -- if something's based off a source material I always try to get up before going on discussions online -- but at the same time I usually mark spoilers just out of courtesy.
jellycar 26th-Mar-2014 08:42 pm (UTC)
lol forreal though.
I get so annoyed when I can't talk to my show watching friends about anything and I have to be so wary of spoilers it's so annoying. Then they claim to know everything... um ok
aryastarkx 26th-Mar-2014 07:21 pm (UTC)
Eh, Emilia's a better actress and Dany's a better character, despite the delusions that ONTD has. Emilia has range, whereas all Sophie has to do is look sad and pout.

Ok.
aryastarkx 26th-Mar-2014 07:25 pm (UTC)
Well, it's true. There's no coincidence that the best moments in the series have to do with Dany, while nobody talking about the Sansa shit besides ONTD. People feel bad for Sansa but the general audience isn't very invested in her. Not like how they are with their Khaleesi.
redwings 26th-Mar-2014 07:26 pm (UTC)
ia, emilia carries those high budget special effects

You kill me
roguezombie 26th-Mar-2014 08:15 pm (UTC)
I think they are about the same level of talent. Emilia often over acts and Sophie uses the same monotone voice for every line and never emotes. However, Maisie is more talented than the both of them combined.
missyxxmisch 26th-Mar-2014 08:53 pm (UTC)
omg you are ruining all the sansa posts now. lol. ;_;
goofusgallant 26th-Mar-2014 07:26 pm (UTC)
She’s going to learn how to use her femininity to get what she wants, seduce..."

O God. Do not want, especially with D&D writing it.
alaynestone 26th-Mar-2014 07:27 pm (UTC)
This is the first time she's worded it quite like that, so Idk what to think.
goofusgallant 26th-Mar-2014 07:29 pm (UTC)
Well, whenever Sophie talks about Sansa in interviews, I feel like she says what she would like Sansa to do but it never really happens onscreen. So I'm not too worried lol.
beetlebums 26th-Mar-2014 07:34 pm (UTC)
I mean
isn't that what she started using subtly to Little Finger in the Vale to get the info she wants to hear. The validity of some of the info is still up in the air ofc
humbug 26th-Mar-2014 07:39 pm (UTC)

kitfah 26th-Mar-2014 07:41 pm (UTC)
This! I cringed a little a little bit when I read that. All I can think of are her scenes with creepyfinger. eux
aryastarkx 26th-Mar-2014 07:51 pm (UTC)
Called it tbh. Sophie's attractive and D&D will use that because they're disgusting.
galaxized 26th-Mar-2014 08:30 pm (UTC)
yeah she's never said anything like that, so i hope she just means she ~charms people
redwings 26th-Mar-2014 07:27 pm (UTC)
she seemed really exhausted last night
humbug 26th-Mar-2014 07:40 pm (UTC)
this makes me nervous
hateistoodark 26th-Mar-2014 07:48 pm (UTC)
If there's one thing i'm against about this adaptation is the sexualizing of Sansa (and Arya for that matter)
I know these gross assholes would try it as she got older
colonel_green 26th-Mar-2014 08:33 pm (UTC)
I have any number of problems with the show's version of Sansa, but I think she's probably less sexualized than the book version, if anything (even aside from the obvious changes as a result of content laws relating to child actors).
hocus_pocus 26th-Mar-2014 08:12 pm (UTC)
Ugh nhf Sansa 'seducing'

I always read through these posts and it makes me :( that people always seem to choose sides esp when it comes to Sansa/Arya, both stans being bitter about the other when you could love both like you're supposed to <3
roguezombie 26th-Mar-2014 08:20 pm (UTC)
I don't get why people have to put the other down to make their fave look better. It's such a sucky attitude.
hocus_pocus 26th-Mar-2014 08:27 pm (UTC)
Esp. with Sansa and Arya because they're sisters and they're both complex characters and each defense seems to come from 'well she doesn't have many fans/the other sister's fans put her down!!!' like stop lol

People especially project onto both of them and that's why they're so snidey about the other sister
hateistoodark 26th-Mar-2014 08:39 pm (UTC)
Ikr <\3 love my Stark girls
goofusgallant 26th-Mar-2014 08:40 pm (UTC)
I see that shit all the time on tumblr. I didn't know people still do that here...
qt icon btw
jellycar 26th-Mar-2014 08:47 pm (UTC)
idgi, I love both of them so much, they're sisters fgs and I love Sophie/Maisie's relationship too.
mem_mu 26th-Mar-2014 09:08 pm (UTC)
I love them both <3 I guess those people who stan Arya and put down Sansa have the 'not like the other girls'-way of thinking and some of the Sansa stans put down Arya as a counter reaction to that.
aryastarkx 26th-Mar-2014 09:37 pm (UTC)
ikr I hate people who compare the lovely ladies in the show/books :(
watermeloncholy 26th-Mar-2014 11:44 pm (UTC)
people here do it with all the female characters.
hocus_pocus 26th-Mar-2014 08:16 pm (UTC)
o shit
colonel_green 26th-Mar-2014 08:29 pm (UTC)
That's clearly the Arya chapter cut from ADWD, but it's weird, because it's set after Kevan's epilogue, which would have been really weird structurally, and Kevan's chapter is so obviously a "book ender" that I can't believe it wasn't intended to serve as such.
anterrabre 26th-Mar-2014 08:31 pm (UTC)
That was a good read! :D
jellycar 26th-Mar-2014 08:56 pm (UTC)
OMG TY

wow i did not need to read about arya getting groped and feeling a dude's cock

grrm is nasty
girlomega 27th-Mar-2014 04:34 pm (UTC)
omg wat no. idk if i want to read this cause it'll just make me angst/thirst for more.

ugh no. i wanted arya to become this badass assassin that gave no fucks about personal relationships past "kill/not kill/okay you're an okay person".

concreteway 26th-Mar-2014 09:53 pm (UTC)
OK can we speculate on who exactly the 'Mercy' POV is going to be? GRRM has already said it's going to be a chapter he's had written for a while so

Personally, I'm leaning towards:

1. Arya: GRRM has talked about having a chapter for her floating around, has changed her name like 4 trillion times, and most importantly, she's one of the few POVS that could have an entire chapter without spoiling major plot points before TWOW's actual
release.

2. Lady Stoneheart: GRRM refers to her as "Mother Mercy" in the appendix, plus it would a really awesome way to get around his no new POVs rule. Also, another character that could have an entire chapter and safely avoid spoiling TWOW.

daceymormont 27th-Mar-2014 05:18 pm (UTC)
She’s going to learn how to use her femininity to get what she wants, seduce...

this weaponized femininity isn't cute
alaynestone 27th-Mar-2014 05:19 pm (UTC)
Tell that to tumblr. Lol.
daceymormont 28th-Mar-2014 03:17 pm (UTC)
i'm guessing you're talking about the posts on tumblr talking about sansa killing everyone while wearing pretty gowns? tumblr is so embarrassing sometimes lmfao
