san antonio spurs stay at a haunted hotel!

San Antonio Spurs power forward Tim Duncan has rarely shown much emotion during his Hall of Fame career. But he isn't afraid to admit he was a little frightened during the team's West Coast road trip this week.

For their game Monday against the Warriors, the Spurs stayed at the Claremont Resort in Berkeley, Calif., which has a reputation of being haunted. Spurs center Jeff Ayres says the noises he heard in his room were "creepy."

"I could hear stuff in the hallway, like people in their rooms," he told the San Antonio Express-News. "So I'm thinking people are watching TV or whatever. So I get to my door, and my key doesn't work, but it sounds like there's somebody in my room. Like I hear a little baby, not crying but making noise. I'm like, 'What the heck?' I keep trying my key and it doesn't work. So I go downstairs to get a new key, and I tell them. So they call the room, and nobody answers. They're like, 'We can get you a new key and send you up with security and make sure nobody's there, because there shouldn't be anybody in there. Then they're like, 'We'll just get you a new room.' It was the creepiest thing. I heard a couple of other guys heard babies in the hallway, kids running down the hallway. Creepy. I really heard voices and a baby in the room, and there wasn'€™t anybody in there. It was crazy."

A 6-year-old girl is known to have died in the hotel. Was it her spirit that visited the Spurs?

"I heard a baby in (Ayres') room," Duncan said. "There was somebody or something in his room, yeah. I definitely heard something. It wasn't creepy, because I assumed it was really somebody in the room, and they gave him the wrong room. But when they told me the story the next day about calling up there and no one in the room, it's at that point you get chills. I totally agreed with him. There was a baby there, absolutely. I heard about the history of the place, and I'd rather not (stay there again)."

This isn't the only hotel where NBA players have said they've heard strange noises.

The Skirvin Hilton in Oklahoma City is also believed to be haunted.

Several New York Knicks players claimed it was a reason they lost a game to the Thunder in 2010.

But whatever was making noises at the Claremont Resort didn't affect the Spurs on the court at Golden State. They beat the Warriors to extend their winning streak to 14.

i know its morning for most people, but creepy post??? share your haunted location stories!

One place I have to work at is haunted. It's in an old building that was built in the 1880's. He usually just hangs out in the basement, but sometimes he'll come up and slam one of the doors.
makahakat 26th-Mar-2014 03:18 pm (UTC)
do you have any clue who it might be/might have been??
skyler_white_yo 26th-Mar-2014 03:24 pm (UTC)
The building was a bank, so probably a disgruntled banker. The building is pretty cool, because it has the original vault with a 2 foot thick door with the national bank of [town name] logo on the door.

slam the doors? rude.

p sure my house has something in it. i hear walking in the room above me when theres no one else home (the room above me isnt rented out anyway) or when the roommates that live upstairs are actually downstairs. one roommate heard knocking at her door and when she went to see who was there there was no one, and the unoccupied room across the hall shut its door on its own. one of my original renters has heard a female voice talking from that same room too (when it was just me and her living there and i hadnt been there that night). we've all been in the living room and heard random banging from upstairs that we couldnt figure out the source of, etc. we do get squirrels in the walls but thats a different sound. it doesnt help that the house has one of those creepy ass tiny doors that leads to a crawlspace like in paranormal activity 3 lol. and that its nailed closed bc my uncle didnt want renters storing things there. so it just looks super creepy.

also my cuz had to go into the attic to help us with the squirrel thing and found a dead bird by the trapdoor, it had been decapitated and the head and body were laying side by side. still have no clue how that happened/who did it (the attic has no windows for a bird to get in through and the roof is new so idt it got in through there, but maybe)

anyway, like i said in another creepy post, it hasnt gotten to be more than just general poltergeist-like activity and nothing harmful at all so we've decided the best course of action is just to ignore stuff when it happens and not give it attention/feed into it lol
nalaa1906 26th-Mar-2014 03:32 pm (UTC)
omg @ the bird
makahakat 26th-Mar-2014 04:08 pm (UTC)
that same occasion he was moving through the attic and following the areas laid out to walk on so you dont go through the ceiling, and stepped on this piece of idek what (looked like a board) it was shaped exactly like a foot/shoe except larger so it looked like it was a step guide, but it wasn't and his leg went through the ceiling. the rest of him probably would too (and then he wouldve fallen two stories) if he hadn't shifted his weight fast and grabbed something. my mom nearly had a heart attack, i was like oh great now youve given whatevers apparently trying to kill things in the attic a hole to come into the house through THANKS

The Pfister in Milwaukee has been known to be haunted but the few times I've gone there for drinks and the one time I actually stayed there, I didn't see/hear anything :(

makahakat 26th-Mar-2014 03:20 pm (UTC)
i read something once (probs in an ontd creepy post lmao) that places with reps for being haunted will end up with the least amount of haunting activity because theres so many people looking for experiences? so i guess it runs the ghostly battery down faster than if its just a random house with a haunting, if that makes sense?
stellar_ball 26th-Mar-2014 03:23 pm (UTC)
I kind of figured something like that. If I wasn't actively trying to ~experience~ something, it probably would have happened.
makahakat 26th-Mar-2014 03:22 pm (UTC)
i guess its sort of stereotypical to leave this question in a creepy post but w/e, does ontd have any witchcraft practitioners? of whatever variety (although particularly i was looking to ask a question of someone familiar with left hand path work)

my whole road is haunted and so is my house.

we live in my grandmother's life-long home and it's over 100 years old. so in the winter it gets really cold because the insulation isn't great and we have to keep the heat set lower because it costs too much. we have space heaters, but we shut them off when we sleep so every room is freezing by morning. but my brothers' room is always at least 70 degrees. they sleep in the room my grandmother did when she was alive, and she always complained about being cold.

i sleep in the room my mom did when she was younger, and she has seen a woman in a wedding dress (the wagon taking her to her wedding capsized and she drowned in the creek by my house, we looked it up lol) multiple times in it. and i still think she's in there. i feel cold breezes, and most nights if i'm able to fall asleep, i wake up at 3am and feel like someone's staring at me and can't go back to sleep. happened last night. i haven't seen her yet tho, it might be because i'm a guy and she only seems to show herself to women.
makahakat 26th-Mar-2014 03:58 pm (UTC)
do you live on fear street
sinistres 26th-Mar-2014 04:09 pm (UTC)
basically. my godmom's house is worse, she lives on the same road.

she has a blood stain on her ceiling from a little girl who fell from the attic steps, cracked her head open, and died. they've painted over it like 15 times and it still seeps through and still looks wet.

we've taken pictures outside of her house before and in her attic window there was an image of a skull in the window and there is absolutely nothing around the window to create that kind of image.

i pretty much live in a supernatural horror movie.

The hospital I work at is lame and not haunted :(
But I've been hearing a few crazy stories of things that have happened here.

and GSG! :D
makahakat 26th-Mar-2014 03:50 pm (UTC)
i wonder why more hospitals arent "haunted". it seems like working ones never are? (but for some reason always are if they shut down lol)
x_myheart_ 26th-Mar-2014 03:59 pm (UTC)
ikr? Maybe past workers are pissed it shut down since they always tell us you'll always have a job because you'll always need a hospital.
makahakat 26th-Mar-2014 03:49 pm (UTC)
this has probably been posted already (and if it hasnt it should be??) but it fully creeped me out. i wonder why they wouldnt let the warrens finish what they were doing, did it really make things so much worse than it had been/continued to be? especially the ghost possibly molesting the girls? augh

nalaa1906 26th-Mar-2014 03:59 pm (UTC)
One ghost smelled of flowers while another would gently kiss the girls goodnight in their beds every night.

aw lol
makahakat 26th-Mar-2014 04:03 pm (UTC)
ngl id be kind of mad that the nice ghosts werent making the mean ghosts knock it off around me. like i appreciate the kiss on the head and all but could you tell the one yanking my hair to fuck off please?
maggielizabeth 26th-Mar-2014 03:52 pm (UTC)
I've worked at two haunted places, although the second one not entirely sure but I've had a piece of plastic thrown at me and the front door opened.

The first place was a coffeeshop that was in a 100+ yr old house that is haunted, possibly, by a man and woman. Both were called "crazy". They were seperate home owners from my understanding. I've heard footsteps in the second floor and stairs. The light would be on in the attic when I would leave, but I had never been in the attic. The next morning when I would open the light would be off. That happened a few times. Once I was washing the dishes, after closing down the front, and all the wind chimes on the porch went off! I ran outside but once I gathered my courage I went inside and finished but when I left I went to the front and checked to see if the sliding doors were closed and locked. They were. Annnnd my head/hair was touch, it felt like someone had ran their fingers over my scalp and thru my hair.

Oh I've gone to Point Lookout, which is close to where I live and I heard marching. Creepy~

makahakat 26th-Mar-2014 03:56 pm (UTC)
lol ilu2!!

i also have a poltergeist that follows me around and has for years lmao, i think i picked it up in la? it hides my things unless i ask out loud (nicely) for them back and then theyll just like, appear on a surface ive already checked or thats empty except for them, etc. it got sassy with me once and i woke up to find some of my undies hanging from my bathroom door (which i obviously did not put there) but i was rly firm and like do NOT start edward cullening, this is not appropriate or okay, and it hasnt done anything like that since lol
2morrowww 26th-Mar-2014 03:57 pm (UTC)
ngl i'd be terrified! you're much more okay with that stuff than i am lol
