'Avengers: Age of Ultron' Northern Italy Shoot Details Revealed

Filming is currently under way on the Northern Italy portion of production on Marvel's Avengers: Age of Ultron. New info has surfaced today from CineFilos.it, detailing scenes shot in Piazza Cavalieri di Vittorio Veneto.

Aaron Taylor-Johnson (Quicksilver), Elizabeth Olsen (Scarlet Witch) and Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) are involved in the scene, along with a group of refugees who escape the wrath of Ultron (voiced by James Spader) by a "dropship" that arrives to rescue them. The scene also involves several exploding cars and an overturned bus. Mark Ruffalo's Hulk had previously been rumored to cause all the destruction, but this report reveals that Ultron shows up in person to inflict the damage. Scarlet Witch is said to use her powers to keep Ultron at bay while the rest of them make their escape.

The location of Fort di Bard in Valle D'Aosta, Italy is actually doubling for an Eastern European city known as Sokovia, with several of the signs posted around the set written in the Serbian language. The site also described a scene shot yesterday involving Baron Von Strucker (Thomas Kretschmann) and his soldiers who, "rejected the attack of Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.) in flight."

It isn't known how long production is expected to continue in Northern Italy for writer-director Joss Whedon's Marvel Phase Two superhero sequel, which is also confirmed to shoot in South Korea and in London's Pinewood Studios.

Avengers: Age of Ultron comes to theaters May 1st, 2015 and stars Chris Hemsworth, Jeremy Renner, Robert Downey Jr., Scarlett Johansson, Chris Evans, Samuel L. Jackson, Cobie Smulders, Mark Ruffalo. The film is directed by Joss Whedon.
