The Stark children on The Today Show (includes a brief, but extended look at a Sansa/Tyrion scene)

'Game of Thrones' stars talk Stark family, 'strongest characters' and fans

"It's very confusing," Maisie Williams, who plays Arya Stark, said of the plot so far. "There are a lot of different story lines. ... Everyone's fighting for the throne basically, ultimately."

That is, everyone who's left. Last season's Red Wedding saw the Stark clan significantly reduced (and saw fans reduced to tears).

"I had no idea how it was going to turn out," Sophie Turner (Sansa Stark) said of the nuptials. "But everyone seemed to hate it, which is great," she added with a smile.

But what's really great about "Game of Thrones," as far as she's concerned, are the characters — especially the women.

"I mean, the great thing about the writing is that they've written these (female) characters that you don't really get to see — that you haven't seen before — because they're so strong, and probably the strongest characters in the show," Turner said.

So what's next for those strong Stark ladies and their remaining male counterpart?

"It seems they're heading further and further apart now," according to Williams.

But fans are never far from the drama.

"I find it just really exciting," said Isaac Hempstead-Wright, who plays Bran Stark. "I love it. What's nice is there are people who are hugely passionate about it. It's not like they're just sort of regular fans; they're superfans who absolutely love everything about it."
