The next Batman: Arkham game is revealed!

Rocksteady announces Batman: Arkham Knight with a planned 2014 release date.
arkham knight

The developer that made Arkham a household name is back. Rocksteady Studios' Arkham Asylum innovated with the freeflow combat system and stalking gameplay in 2009, and the team blew it all out to an open world in 2011's Arkham City. Rocksteady is hoping to raise the bar even higher on what will be its final Arkham game. Set after the events of Arkham City, Batman: Arkham Knight may just end the Dark Knight's journey.

As you've probably guessed from the cover imagery, the Batmobile is finally a core element of the gameplay. An entirely new area of Gotham City, far larger than Arkham City, has much wider streets to accommodate the new driving gameplay that is designed to integrate smoothly with Batman's gliding and grappling traversal. Batman chases down super villains Scarecrow, Penguin, Two-Face, Harley Quinn, and more.

Arkham Knight will release later this year on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.

Yaaas! Hope this is better than Arkham: Origins.

it's like people never learn that sometimes things have to quit while they're still good
xdecadentx 5th-Mar-2014 10:56 am (UTC)
tbh City was still good, I'm glad this will close off the Rocksteady trilogy, cos I thought they were done when Origins came out.
faunyoudork 5th-Mar-2014 06:25 pm (UTC)
Oh yeah for sure. Unlike movies, sequels in video games can be very awesome. But City ended in a way that would allow them to stop with dignity. They're pretty desperate now though, and it shows.

idk I may as well just hope all the games are good and well received, since they all exist and will continue existing no matter what my opinion is. I haven't played Origins and I won't play Knight, but that's only because the games ended at City for me and I'm good with that.
hurricanemikey 4th-Mar-2014 05:34 pm (UTC)
Is Arkham: Origins that bad? I got it for Christmas but haven't played it yet.
comalies 4th-Mar-2014 05:36 pm (UTC)
I enjoyed it but it just wasn't on par with Asylum or City.
siwpes 4th-Mar-2014 05:38 pm (UTC)
it's okay, not as good as the other 2, but enjoyable
staaan 4th-Mar-2014 05:40 pm (UTC)
i honestly think the public reception would've been a lot more positive if it hadn't been released after arkham city, which everyone loved. it's a decent game but more or less feels like you're playing a long, slightly inferior dlc of ac.
prophecypro 4th-Mar-2014 05:50 pm (UTC)
It was alright

___teckie 4th-Mar-2014 11:45 pm (UTC)
It's so glitchy at my end. But then I haven't updated it with the patches yet.
chaos_organised 5th-Mar-2014 01:13 am (UTC)
i really enjoyed it!
but i did have glitch issues
and it didn't have as many good side missions as city (though the mad hatter one is amazing) + it felt sorta empty.
xdecadentx 5th-Mar-2014 10:56 am (UTC)
It's okay, it's a bit repetitive.
mariezombie 4th-Mar-2014 05:35 pm (UTC)
I honestly think this looks awesome :/

Me too! And with Rocksteady behind it I have high hopes.
jerriblank 4th-Mar-2014 08:56 pm (UTC)
I'm glad they're back, makes me feel a lot better about this game
xdecadentx 5th-Mar-2014 10:57 am (UTC)
Rocksteady seem to be the awesome.
staaan 4th-Mar-2014 05:39 pm (UTC)
lol of course everyone's psyched about this except ontd

i'm really excited, there's no doubt in my mind rocksteady will do a better job than wb, although i'm pissed ps3 isn't among the available platforms
mana_runigha 4th-Mar-2014 05:45 pm (UTC)
They should've never made Origins. It was so meh, but I like the detective side missions.

No more Joker, you can have someone else be the mastermind.</p>

I hope we get more of Hush and what he's up to.

Rocksteady said there are still undiscovered secrets in City? Hav they ever revealed them?

comalies 4th-Mar-2014 05:49 pm (UTC)
Hush would be a great main villain, the Joker's so tired at this point.
voldy06 4th-Mar-2014 06:10 pm (UTC)
Scarecrow will be the main villain in this one.
6tormy 4th-Mar-2014 05:48 pm (UTC)

ugh that design is such garbage
prophecypro 4th-Mar-2014 05:51 pm (UTC)
Rocksteady aint on par with the first 2 but its still a damn good game they produce in their own right (like the whole stage where rogues get introduced)

This looks just as dope
voldy06 4th-Mar-2014 06:15 pm (UTC)
Huh? Rocksteady made the first two. Warner Bros. Games Montréal made Origins.
prophecypro 4th-Mar-2014 06:41 pm (UTC)
Oh I thought it was the other way round
somnus_angel 4th-Mar-2014 05:54 pm (UTC)
I'm so glad rocksteady is back this game looks great, I got Arkham Origins during black friday and have yet to touch it haha.

I'm always here for more Two-Face as well.
littlepunkryo 4th-Mar-2014 06:01 pm (UTC)
I may have cried a little when I saw that Rocksteady was doing this.
saintssin 4th-Mar-2014 06:04 pm (UTC)
Rocksteady > the previous studio. But I'm glad someone else did Origins since it gave them the opportunity to focus heavily on this one. I'M EXCITED.

... and just realized that I don't have an Xbox One or PS4.
voldy06 4th-Mar-2014 06:20 pm (UTC)
the Batmobile is finally a core element of the gameplay

It's about damn time!
batsyx 4th-Mar-2014 06:27 pm (UTC)
Omg please tell me they will release this for PS3!?!? I don't want to have to buy a new console just to play this fucking game. :/
batsyx 4th-Mar-2014 06:29 pm (UTC)
Also I hope Kevin Conroy is back as batman. I mean I liked Roger Craig Smith but he is def no Kevin.
