The 29-year-old singer is designing a range of jewellery and accessories titled Katy Perry Prism for the retailer. They will be sold in more than 3,000 stores worldwide, marking the first time Claire's has launched a collection globally.
Katy's offering will include limited-edition designs, seasonal novelty items along with collectibles, all of which are to be inspired by her music.
Jim Fielding, chief executive officer of Claire's, insists the whole line will be created by the pop star herself. He found she was the most popular female celebrity after a survey on the retailer's target audience.
“When we survey our girls around the world, she’s the superstar that resonates globally. We’ve done smaller deals and always carried different products. Katy is our big one," he told WWD.
“Katy is designing a line of jewellery and accessories that she wanted to make for her fans. The overlap between her fans and the Claire’s customer is a great overlap. Katy is a very smart businesswoman and a great performer. She knows her brand very well. She has a definite aesthetic and point of view.”
Katy is no stranger to the fashion and beauty world. The musician was named the new face of cosmetics brand CoverGirl last year and she also has her own fragrances and eyelash line.
She previously shared her delight at working with the beauty giant.
"In addition to music, I've always considered make-up to be a powerful creative avenue of self-expression," Katy said in a statement. "I'm honoured to partner with CoverGirl and share more colours and textures of my approach to beauty to inspire my audience."
