'I was just nervous,' says Arctic Monkeys singer Alex after THAT speech at the BRITS

When Arctic Monkeys frontman Alex Turner delivered a bizarre acceptance speech at last week’s Brit Awards and then dropped the microphone, fans wondered whether he had taken advantage of the event’s generous hospitality.

But the singer says there was another reason for his strange behaviour – he was nervous.

‘In public I’m a quiet guy, so doing anything in front of lots of people always makes me nervous,’ said Alex when I caught up with him later.

The star, whose band won two gongs, added: ‘I’m known for my music, not how well I deliver a speech.
People always assume if you’re in a band that’s been on the scene for ages that you’re going to be really confident, but that’s not true.’
