Shirley Temple once cooked Michael Jackson a secret roast chicken dinner at her Woodside home, according to the New York Daily News.
I'm betting there were talking Disney animals there, too.
The paper reported that Temple agreed to meet Jackson after an obsessed King of Pop reached out to her.
"She had Michael over for dinner once. He wanted to meet her because he was kind of obsessed with her, so she cooked dinner," said Tim Gast, a friend of Temple, who died Monday at age 85. Gast told Confidenti@l "She cooked chicken and squash, she (was) an amazing cook."
I hope he didn't bring the chimp.
Jackson was known for being fixated on Temple, describing her as a "kindred spirit."
Gast, who works at a grocery store in Woodside, became acquainted with Temple when she would come into the store. He said Jackson "had the resources to pursue these obsessions and arranged to meet her. I think she was more surprised then anything else. She was excited to have met him."
Gast didn't say when the meeting took place, but it was likely in the 1990s, after Jackson mentioned Macaulay Jackson in a quote about meeting Temple. Fan site AnotherPartofMe.com quoted Jackson saying of Temple, "I used to think that I was unique in feeling that I was without a childhood. I believed that indeed there were only a handful with whom I could share those feelings. When I recently met with Shirley Temple Black, the great child star of the 1930s and 40s, we said nothing to each other at first, we simply cried together, for she could share a pain with me that only others like my close friends Elizabeth Taylor and Macaulay Culkin know."
