Charlotte Dawson Has Passed Away.

CHARLOTTE Dawson has been found dead at her Woolloomooloo home. A police media spokesman gave this statement to this morning: “About 11am police from the Kings Cross local area command were called to Cowper Wharf Road after the body of a woman had been located in a unit. No suspicious circumstances at this stage and a report is being prepared for the coroner.”

The Australia’s Next Top Model judge is understood to have been found by a security guard in her rented waterside apartment this morning. It’s a devastating loss for the family and friends of the 47-year-old television presenter, who had long battled depression.

Dawson was hospitalised in 2012 after hundreds of social media trolls viciously targeted her on Twitter. Dawson appeared on the Nine Network’s A Current Affair and Ten Network’s The Project last night to expose vitriolic Twitter bullying this week, with many followers calling for the celebrity to “please go hang yourself.”

Close friend Alex Perry spoke to in the wake of the tragic news. “She was such a beautiful girl, she had so much energy and such a sense of humour but her battle with her mental illness just made it so difficult for her to really go in so many parts of her life,” he said.

“It was such a battle and as she got older it was harder to deal with, I just can’t believe she has taken her own life but all I can do is pray for her and know now that she is up there with her mother who she dearly loved. “I loved Charlotte so much but she was a very tormented woman and really was finding it hard to battle her mental illness,” says Mr Perry.

“She obviously has tried and tried so hard to raise awareness of mental illness but it really did just totally take it’s toll and got on top of her. As I said, I pray for her.”

In August 2012, Dawson was admitted to St Vincent’s Hospital after attempting to commit suicide when she was attacked by Twitter trolls for naming and shaming a Twitter user, who brutally told her to hang herself.

Dawson checked herself into the same hospital in November 2013 after suffering a panic attack.

omg this really shocked me. she was such an entertaining judge on AusNTM. And all her efforts to raise awareness for mental illness, despite constantly being dismissed for doing it for publicity. So sad.
