BONUS: Chelsea Peretti interviews her brother Jonah Peretti (FOUNDER OF BUZZFEED YO) for Elle magazine:
All good things must come to an end. To round out Chelsea Peretti's series of hilarious Q&As with hilarious people, we bring you her final installment, in which she grills brother (and Buzzfeed founder) Jonah. Catch up on all of Chelsea's guest blogger posts—featuring Andy Samberg, Danny McBride, and Catherine O'Hara—and then get schooled on how Peretti's do business deals, snack on healthy eats, and mutually benefit from some old-fashioned Interweb nepotism. Interwepotism?
What's your favorite color?
Too personal, next question.
Who is your favorite parent?
What are the qualities you look for in a friend?
It's important that all my friends have verified Twitter accounts. The blue checkmark makes me feel comfortable and like I'm friends with a legit, high-quality person. I also prefer friends with ridiculously long usernames. So even if you weren't my sister, I'd still totally want to be friends with @ChelseaVPeretti ✓
How about in a business partner?
I look for a business certificate from an accredited college or university. We have one meeting: They show me the certificate; I inspect to make sure it is genuine; we shake hands; and then we are business partners!
You're a Capricorn, right? How does astrology guide you?
Yes, I'm a typical Capricorn. I'm hardworking, loyal, sometimes stubborn, and I don't believe in astrology.
What was it like to grow up with me, an American legend?
Intimidating. You were a force of nature and it was always clear you were destined to be an American legend. It's silly, I know, but I'm still nervous around you now... (This answer deleted and re-written by Chelsea Peretti)
I'm thinking about quitting coffee. Would you ever quit?
Quitting coffee is obviously a really bad idea. Don't let Hollywood change you. Okay, sister?
What is your favorite snack these days since you quit eating meat to lower your cholesterol?
Avocado toast on whole grain bread.
Do you freak out when Buzzfeed community members post homages to me?
It feels like it breaks our sacred rule of no nepotism, as does this interview.
Should we just abandon our no nepotism rule? Or should we be seeing it as "collaborating?"
I think we should abandon it so I can guest star on Brooklyn Nine-Nine!
Living in New York how do you not miss California weather? Do you feel you've turned your back on our upbringing?
I do. Do you feel like you've turned your back on Oakland by moving to L.A.? I do. If I was in your shoes, with your following, I would move back to Oakland and really help Oakland's acting and comedy community develop. You could make a big difference there.
What are your three favorite books you've ever read?
Immanuel Kant's The Critique of Pure Reason; Immanuel Kant's The Critique of Practical Reason; Immanuel Kant's Critique of Judgment—but not necessarily in that order!
Which men's clothiers—hoping that's a word—should ELLE readers buy clothes from when shopping for their male loved ones?
Generally I think women should take a passive aggressive approach to buying clothing for their male partners. The clothes should say: "I am not entirely happy with who you are, I wish you were a little different, and this slightly too formal/too casual/too preppy/too masculine/too elegant gift is an arrow pointing you in the right direction."
If you could ask yourself any question what would it be?
You already asked me the one about growing up with an American legend. I guess I'd ask myself why I was willing to throw our dad under the bus earlier in this interview just for the sake of a joke? It is probably your fault since growing up with you warped my judgment about the appropriateness of humor. It is a real liability in my current line of work.
PS. I love you, Pop!
Who's gonna go see the queen in action??
