“Happy Endings” may have ended, but network execs are obviously eager to keep that charming, funny cast on TV. Elisha Cuthbert is the latest to land in a new pilot, this time a comedy for NBC called “One Big Happy,” according to Deadline.
The new “Happy” is also an “Endings” reunion as Cuthbert is set to co-star opposite Nick Zano, who did a recurring arc on the cancelled ABC sitcom. The two will play best friends who decide to have a baby together via artificial insemination. She’s gay and he’s straight, though, so this won’t be going down that road. Instead, the complication arises when he meets and then promptly marries the love of his life. Eliza Coupe, Casey Wilson and Zachary Knighton from “Happy Endings” have all been spoken for during this pilot season as well. It’s probably only a matter of time until Adam Pally and Damon Wayans, Jr find their new homes as well. Or perhaps Coach will stick around “New Girl” for a while.
Cuthbert was once a prolific film actress most know for roles in films like “The Girl Next Door” with Emile Hirsch and horror flicks “The Quiet” and “House of Wax.” She also played Jack Bauer’s daughter Kim on Fox’s “24,” though it doesn’t seem like she’ll be reprising the role for the new miniseries “Live Another Day.”
