Michelle Kwan's Husband, Clay Pell, Running for Governor of Rhode Island

Now it's Michelle Kwan's husband who's looking to ice the competiton come voting day.

Clay Pell, who's been married to the now-retired champion figure skater for a year, is running for governor of Rhode Island. He officially announced his candidacy on Monday, some months after first putting it out there that he was considering throwing his hat into the race.

The 32-year-old Democrat said in a video message that he will not be accepting campaign contributions from Political Action Committees or state lobbyists.

"As an officer in the Coast Guard, I led men and women in uniform. As director of strategic planning for President Obama's national security team, I worked to ensure that resources were redirected to areas of growth and opportunity," says the youthful-looking Pell.

Kwan's hubby is a bright one, too, graduating from Harvard and then getting his law degree from Georgetown. Pell also has served as Deputy Assistant Secretary for International and Foreign Language Education in the United States Department of Education and was a White House Fellow from 2011 to 2012.
