Firefighters responding to reports of a smoke alarm going off at a hotel were surprised to find Snoop Dogg AKA Snoop Lion inside the room.

The fire crew were called to the Melbourne hotel at around 10am local time on Friday. When they attended the scene they found the rap superstar and his entourage.

Having quickly established there was no fire, the group began posing for pictures, which later found their way onto the internet.

‘It was pretty funny,’ senior station officer Trevor Bowen said. ‘We had a brush with Mr Snoop himself.

‘He asked us for a photo because he said he always wanted to be a firefighter.’

Mr Bowen said of Snoop’s entourage: ‘If you didn’t know who they were you would just think they were very friendly, ordinary people.

‘It was an amazing chance encounter, which would probably be one of the highlights of my 26 years with the MFB (Melbourne Fire Brigade).’

The fire brigade has yet to comment on what caused the smoke alarm to go off but said there was no fire in Snoop’s room.

The rapper is in Melbourne for the Big Day Out festival.
