RnB Queen Ashanti "Braveheart" Album Promo Pics

It’s been over 5 years since the RnB Queen has put out an album, but it seems as though her fans won’t have to wait much longer. After suffering numerous delays in 2013, Ashanti assured her followers that her album BraveHeart was on its way this weekend by posting a series of fierce new promo pics. According to her recent interview with DJ Whoo Kid, she’s recorded over 60 songs over the past few years before the project started coming together.

Music changes so much and I’ve been recording for awhile. I would get to the end of recording, and the songs would be hot, then I’d record a few more. Sometimes records get dated so if you aren’t ready to release now, you have to keep recording so you can stay current.

I came from a major. Being signed to Def Jam, being signed to Universal, all partnered up with Murder Inc. When it was done, 2008 was my last record with Universal, [and] from 2009 to 2012 I walked away from 7 offers from majors. It was really hard. It was tough because it’s the fear of the unknown. But the 360 [deals] and everything it stands for, I just couldn’t wrap my brain around it, so I chose this route [to go Independent] and it’s the best thing for me now.

Ashanti is now head of her own label, Written Entertainment, which means she finances her own projects.
