Teenage girls will now have the chance to look like they belong on their favorite ABC Family series, though hopefully minus all the drama. ABC Family is teaming up with clothing store Wet Seal for the Crush by ABC Family collection, which launches this fall.
The network partnered with the retailer to create a line of apparel and accessories inspired by characters from their three highest-rated series: "The Fosters," "Switched at Birth," and "Twisted."
"This is definitely [for] a junior consumer," Disney Consumer Products VP Soo Koo tells Women's Wear Daily. "It is a millennial, lifestyle brand. That age group and the type of girls that shop at Wet Seal are perfect for this concept."
The style of the collection will focus on three characters from the shows: "The Fosters'" Callie Foster (Maia Mitchell), "Switched at Birth's" Bay Kennish (Vanessa Marano), and "Twisted's" Lacey Porter (Kylie Bunbury). Pieces inspired by Callie Foster will have a boho aesthetic and come in earthy colors and traditional silhouettes. Pieces inspired by Bay Kennish will be edgier, like motorcycle jackets and maxi-skirts in dark, romantic prints. Meanwhile, pieces inspired by Lacey Porter will be more feminine, with embellished pieces like graphic tops and pencil skirts.
The collection's prices will range from $9.99 to $34.90, and other characters from ABC Family shows may be used as inspiration in the future, depending on the success of the initial launch. Crush by ABC Family will be available in Wet Seal stores in late October.
