It's interesting that you brought that up. I think the success of Disney is that it's consistently put out movies about women. There are loads of articles floating around about how Disney princesses can negatively affect young girls, but young girls are attracted to them because they're some of the only stories available to them. In Japan, the animal characters are, by and large, the most popular Disney characters. However, recently, the princesses have become increasingly popular among young girls probably for the same reasons they have in the West.
