Mariah Carey Ditches Makeup In 'The Butler'

Mariah Carey is a diva in every sense of the word and is rarely ever seen without makeup, bronzer, high heels, glitter or a doting glam squad at her side. However, for her role in the highly anticipated film The Butler, the larger than life superstar strips away everything for the surprisingly revealing role.

The Butler tells the story of Cecil Gaines (played by Forest Whitaker), an African-American butler who served in the White House and witnessed several shocking events. Based on the true story of Eugene Allen, who worked held the job during eight presidencies from 1952 to 1986, the movie also stars Oprah Winfrey, Terrence Howard and Cube Gooding Jr.

Carey portrays the cotton-picking Hattie Pearl and judging by this first image, she is aiming for the same rave reviews she earned for her part in Precious. Directed by Lee Daniels, The Butler and will debut on August 16th. Watch the trailer below:


Her character portrays a young Forest Whitaker's mother, and her husband is played by David Banner (yes, the "Come girl, I'm tryna get your _____ wet" rapper)
