ERIK LEHNSHERR on set of X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST

We’ve seen that same outfit on McAvoy before, but I believe that’s our first glimpse at Fassbender and Dinklage’s ’70s getups. The latter looks very of-the-time, perhaps even more so than the outfits donned by Wolverine and Beast. Fassbender’s shirt-and-scarf combo, on the other hand, would be right at home in certain parts of 2013 Brooklyn.

At the moment, the only thing we know for sure about Dinklage’s character is that he’s the villain of the piece. But there have been rumors from early on that he would portray Bolivar Trask, a theory only bolstered by Singer’s recent reveal of a Trask Industries jumpsuit. This new image of Dinklage doesn’t confirm anything, but that suit does kinda make him look like a guy that’d own an evil corporation, don’t you think?

Dinklage is one of several new additions to the franchise, along with Omar Sy, Booboo Stewart, Fan Bingbing, and Adan Canto. Fassbender and McAvoy are part of the cast’s First Class contingent, which also includes Jennifer Lawrence and Nicholas Hoult. Additionally, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellan, Hugh Jackman, Halle Berry, Shawn Ashmore, Ellen Page, Daniel Cudmore, and Anna Paquin return from the original trilogy.

As evidenced by the title, the new film follows the classic “Days of Future Past” storyline from the comics, in which the X-Men must try to prevent a dystopian future from coming to pass. Directed by Bryan Singer,

X-Men: Days of Future Past hits theaters July 18, 2014.
