'Mad Men' Season 6 Sneak Peek at First Episodes Revealed

Can you believe the Mad Men season 6 premiere is almost here?! This coming Sunday, we'll get to re-enter Don Draper's world and pick up where we left off ... sort of. From the looks of things, although season 5 concluded in the spring of 1967, the cast may be celebrating Christmas in the premiere. We know this not because there's an actual trailer with footage from the new season (that would be too good!), but because AMC has released stills from the premiere. And episode titles and synposes for the first four episodes of the season (well, the first three technically, as the first two make up the two-hour premiere).

Whoo! Even more sweet hints and clues to speculate about. Let's check 'em out, shall we ...

The title of the season premiere and the first two episodes is "The Doorway." Maybe it has something to do with Don reading Dante's Inferno? The doorway to hell?! We also know the episode will take us to Hawaii, where Don is a best man at a soldier's wedding ... There's speculation that this is a soldier who knew him back in his Dick Whitman days. And EW reports that we get to see Megan's acting career taking off. She gets stopped for autographs, but fans also comment on her weight. Hmm. In the meantime, AMC shares, "Don spearheads a new campaign; Roger gets unsettling news; Betty takes in a houseguest." Gotta love how vague they are!

The third episode's title is "The Collaborators," and apparently, "Don has a disagreement with a client; Pete entertains a guest; Peggy tries to motivate the staff." Maybe Peggy's firm and Don's work together? Maybe Alexis Bledel's character is back as Pete's "guest"?! (Doubtful, but I hope so!)

And the fourth is "To Have and to Hold" in which "the partners try to keep a secret campaign under wraps; an old friend visits Joan." I sense of a running theme here of surprise, out-of-the-blue visitors! Kinda seems to tie into what Elisabeth Moss said about how they all feel sort of like they're treading water and finding themselves back in the same place over and over again ...

And while you're contemplating that, some eye candy from Sunday's premiere ...

What are you concluding from these episode titles, synopses, and photos?

That Megan is a nude-makeupper and Sally still flawless?

Living for Don's aloha shirt.

lawd megan that dress
ladysherlock 2nd-Apr-2013 06:02 pm (UTC)
I kind of hope Megan isn't pregnant. I like her being so career oriented (nothing wrong with wanting to get knocked up of course, just something I liked in particular with her).
sarahvma 2nd-Apr-2013 07:12 pm (UTC)
It kind of seems like the route they're going.

So far a lot of Megan's storyline is about Don's increasing unease with the fact that she doesn't think being married means she shouldn't have what she wants out of life.

Ironically, the very thing that initially attracted him to her is what repulses him now.

I liked Megan much better on rewatch, but this scene drove me crazy. Peggy's your supervisor, stop insulting her!
pineandapple 2nd-Apr-2013 06:47 pm (UTC)
I love that she's so naive, tbh. Everyone's just so bitter.

I hope Roger has some good lines this season...

svexsal 2nd-Apr-2013 06:10 pm (UTC)
One of my favorite closing scenes ever. I can still hear "You only live twice."
gata_power 2nd-Apr-2013 06:07 pm (UTC)
fucking shit, I can't stand how much story time is placed on the new Mrs. Draper. That's why last season was such a fucking disappointment.
levenah 2nd-Apr-2013 06:09 pm (UTC)
Yeah it was pretty ridiculous to me. The actress is terrible.
mariagoner 3rd-Apr-2013 02:34 am (UTC)
Christ, yes. Remember when Jessica Pare acted drunk in the S5 finale by slurring her words like someone playing Linsday Lohan on SNL and by walking into a coffee-table as soon as she stood up? JP is cute enough when she's being light-hearted and charming but she simply cannot carry off big dramatic scenes well.
megisthesex 2nd-Apr-2013 06:22 pm (UTC)
fucking tell me about it. okay we know her now so can we please get back to the more interesting characters??

i felt the same way about last season, i tried to rewatch on netflix but i couldn't take it. my friend called last season mad megan
icallitwormlog 2nd-Apr-2013 08:59 pm (UTC)
I think Matt Weiner just gets hard-ons for certain actresses/characters and then shoves them down our throats at the expense of the show (her, the schoolteacher)
aujourlejour 3rd-Apr-2013 12:53 am (UTC)
THIS. i'm rewatching right now and it's driving me insane. i need more peggy and joan, even betty. megan can gtfo.
mariagoner 3rd-Apr-2013 02:33 am (UTC)
Word. It's like she swallowed up poor Elizabeth Moss' screen-time to be the new female lead as well. Blech!
tangerinefriday 3rd-Apr-2013 03:45 am (UTC)
MEGAN, UGH is my response to every single Mad Men post lately.
svexsal 2nd-Apr-2013 06:09 pm (UTC)
Oh I cannot wait for this.
Don looks great. Get in my pants great.
hoechlingurl 2nd-Apr-2013 06:10 pm (UTC)
Less of the new Mrs Draper more of the female Dawn, Peggy, Sally and Betty.
redkay23 2nd-Apr-2013 06:39 pm (UTC)
What little spoilers there are say that Sally and Peggy have a big part in the premiere :)

ill_bitch 2nd-Apr-2013 10:16 pm (UTC)

killingabraham 2nd-Apr-2013 06:16 pm (UTC)
i still have to watch season 5, oop
fancycarousel 2nd-Apr-2013 06:18 pm (UTC)
what if Megan gets pregnant and all that ''i cant be pregnant cuz i'm actually becoming a superstar rn'' abortion drama ensues. DonxMegan is ruined.
mariagoner 3rd-Apr-2013 02:35 am (UTC)
Good! Even if I liked Megan (spoiler: I don't), I really don't give a damn about their dysfunctional marriage anyway. At this point, I'd gladly set Don afloat on an ice-burg to get rid of him and his endless man-angst!
numbedtoe 2nd-Apr-2013 06:19 pm (UTC)
I'm so annoyed with Hamm idek if I want to watch MM.

Plus last season was all over the place with it's highs and lows.
mariagoner 3rd-Apr-2013 02:35 am (UTC)
Yeah, the highs (like Signal 30) were so good... but the lows (and Matt Weiner's creepy fixation on Megan) were SO DULL. I couldn't even watch more than a few episodes from last season, honestly.
megisthesex 2nd-Apr-2013 06:21 pm (UTC)
omg dead at all these sideburns
fancycarousel 2nd-Apr-2013 06:23 pm (UTC)
Pete's sideburns must leave like rn.
