Anderson Cooper, Kathy Griffin Shot Pilot For CNN

Anderson Cooper and Kathy Griffin have reportedly shot a pilot together.

Deadline Hollywood reported on Tuesday that the New Years Eve duo shot a pilot together on Monday for CNN, perhaps an indication that the network is interested in turning their annual special into a series. The hourlong project was taped in front of a studio audience, which featured the newly appointed CNN president Jeff Zucker.

Zucker became CNN's president in late January and said he wanted to "expand the definition of what news is" when he took on this new role. He intended on introducing more nonfiction and reality-based programming to CNN's lineup, and was reportedly looking for a late night host.

Cooper and Griffin are close friends. In addition to co-anchoring CNN's New Years Eve coverage, the two TV stars have repeatedly shared stories about staying at each other's homes over the weekend and bonding with Cooper's mom, Gloria Vanderbilt.

Cooper, who has his primetime CNN show "AC360," will no longer be hosting his daytime talk show as it was canceled during its second season. Griffin currently hosts a weekly late night talk show on Bravo.

CNN is not the only network interested in Cooper. Sony reportedly approached him to host "Jeopardy!" once Alek Trebek steps down from his post in 2016. Deadline Hollywood also reported on Tuesday that NBC approached Cooper about replacing Matt Lauer before the end of the year and co-hosting the "Today" show. Lauer signed a reported $25 million-a-year contract that expires in 2014.

I'd be really happy if Anderson ended up on Today. I am Sofa King sick of Matt Lauer.

Agreed. I hate that he may give NBC a boost over other networks, but at least he'd be able to balance hard news with entertainment.

Yes and I want him to host Jeopardy!!! YES YES YES
shanrina 28th-Mar-2013 05:43 am (UTC)
Me too! He would be so perfect. I love Alex and don't want him to leave but Anderson's the best person I can think of to take over.

I went to a taping of Political Jeopardy or whatever they call it some years back and got to see Anderson win live. :D /csb

This is CNN's attempt to get me to watch them after their fail coverage of that Ohio rape trial. Sorry Kathy, I can't follow you there.
explodingpuppet 27th-Mar-2013 03:42 pm (UTC)
They should just clone him so he can be on all the shows.

I'm bummed his daytime show is cancelled though. He is so much better now that he is out and his segments are always filled with useless knowledge, news and random funny products.

I love the idea of him and Kathy every day though!

he could have gotten regis's spot on live, i kinda wish he'd done that instead. but maybe everything happens for a reason because he and kathy are an even better combo than he and kelly. the jeopardy thing would be fab too.
truelasher 27th-Mar-2013 04:30 pm (UTC)
When Regis was prepping to leave, he was starting his own show, so he couldn't have done it. But we all know that Kelly really wished he would have. You are right though about him and Kathy.

I'm sorry, come again? Why would he want to do that? The media is oversaturated with the shit he's trying to introduce. Why can't CNN remain one of the few objective news stations? Like wtf?
another_grl 27th-Mar-2013 04:44 pm (UTC)
I never watch CNN, but I would for this show.

Still, I'd rather get my news from PBS. Gwen Ifill bitches....

Okay okay, and Univision. lol
