William Daniels didn't just visit Girl Meets World set, he worked on the pilot!

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Turns out William Daniels wasn’t just visiting the Girl Meets World set earlier this week — he was working.

TVLine has learned that William Daniels will indeed reprise his beloved role as Mr. Feeny in Disney Channel’s Greatest Pilot of All Time.

It’s not clear what function the character will serve on the Boy Meets World spin-off, but considering he was photographed in a classroom setting — and given his teaching background — it seems logical that he will be back working at the school now attended by Cory’s (Ben Savage) children (including Rowan Blanchard, who’s playing his titular daughter, Riley).

A GMW source, meanwhile, points out that Rider Strong and Will Friedle — who were also snapped on the set — were just visiting and do not appear in the pilot.

thesilverymoon 23rd-Mar-2013 02:29 pm (UTC)
One of my very favourite scenes from the entire series. Glorious.
pirate_smiles 23rd-Mar-2013 02:29 pm (UTC)
Whenever I hear "Hot Stuff", I think of this wonderful scene.
killerqueen 23rd-Mar-2013 04:03 pm (UTC)

I just had this very same thought the other day...heard Hot Stuff and thought to myself "huh, wow after all these years my head automatically goes to Boy Meets World episode....sense memory ftw!"

even though i hated that they made eric into a moron, i loved their relationship.
sparkagrace 23rd-Mar-2013 02:33 pm (UTC)
Yesss! I hate the shows that dumb down their characters to make them funnier like Joey from Friends, Britta on Community etc.

In my head, I like to believe Eric was Mr Feeny's favorite student.
yurasama_love 23rd-Mar-2013 04:33 pm (UTC)
Yeah. There were times where you could see he could be normal and put together, but they decided to make him nuts.
klutzy_girl 23rd-Mar-2013 02:30 pm (UTC)

Disney would be really fucking stupid not to pick this up to series. I definitely think they will, though.
sparkagrace 23rd-Mar-2013 02:36 pm (UTC)
I'm pretty sure the core demographic would solidly be 90s kids. I don't care if the 12 year olds of today don't get it. They should totally air it just for us.
courtines 23rd-Mar-2013 03:28 pm (UTC)
Yeah, I was trying to explain it to my 8 year old who is totally a Disney Channel fanatic and she was fully not impressed. My husband, however, is beyond excited.
thesilverymoon 23rd-Mar-2013 02:31 pm (UTC)
You can't do anything Boy Meets World related and not have Fee-hee-heenay, tbh.
norway 23rd-Mar-2013 02:31 pm (UTC)
this post is giving me life
venetianglass 23rd-Mar-2013 02:37 pm (UTC)
I'm going to be so heartbroken if Disney ends up not picking this up.
klutzy_girl 23rd-Mar-2013 02:37 pm (UTC)
At this point, they'd be really fucking stupid if they didn't pick it up.
pirate_smiles 23rd-Mar-2013 02:38 pm (UTC)
They have a show called Dog With A Blog. I think it's a safe bet with all the publicity and whatnot.

I thought it was going to be on ABC Family...which, in the long run, is owned by Disney. I just wouldn't expect it to be on their main channel.
bellyroomfan 25th-Mar-2013 08:22 pm (UTC)
i love abc family but if they are trying to make a show truer to the original, i'd prefer it be on disney because lets face it, all abc family does is teen mystery shows and that one about kids who don't know about birth control.

Yep, from an ad campaign 2 or 3 years back
sapphire908 23rd-Mar-2013 03:04 pm (UTC)
not OP but yep. I wonder where these kids are now.
saintssin 23rd-Mar-2013 02:45 pm (UTC)
I hope he's not a regular on the show.

He does not look like he's in great shape =/
tiny_winey87 23rd-Mar-2013 02:52 pm (UTC)
exactly what i thought in terms of health... :S
weighty_ghost 23rd-Mar-2013 02:53 pm (UTC)
He's 85 years old. Looks a lot better than my grandparents did at that age.
metalheavy 23rd-Mar-2013 03:19 pm (UTC)
He seems fine...? Unless there's something I don't know about his health, but he's been working ever since bmw ended. He was on grey's anatomy for a bit last year.
courtines 23rd-Mar-2013 03:31 pm (UTC)
He looked pretty good on Grey's a few months ago. He's still pretty awesome. It would be cool if they had him recurring.
ts231 23rd-Mar-2013 05:33 pm (UTC)
he's 85 years old. he looks great for his age.
forgethissmile 23rd-Mar-2013 05:42 pm (UTC)
*shrug* He looks 85.

My Ito is 85 as well. He gets tired easily but aside from that he's a pretty rockin' fellow. I wouldn't be surprised if he has a small regular part. Not enough to keep him on set 14 hours a day, but something.
vanishingbee 23rd-Mar-2013 02:45 pm (UTC)
I think my favourite thing about this whole thing is that it doesn't feel like a cheap, lazy, money making scheme based off BMW's popularity. I mean, lol, in a way it is, but they aren't just remaking it, or doing a sequel, or doing "where are they now~", they're doing "girl meets world" and it is cory & topenga's kids and just.. IT'S EXACTLY WHAT I WANT. It's more like the show went on hiatus for a bunch of years almost haha.

So excited!
__redrightankle 23rd-Mar-2013 02:47 pm (UTC)
Yes, exactly! At first, I was totally side-eyeing this project and thinking it was going to be a cheap, unfunny spin-off that barely related to the original series but I couldn't be more excited with the way this is going! :~)
pikapika217 23rd-Mar-2013 03:35 pm (UTC)
ITA. This seems like it has integrity and I'm excited about it as much as I will allow myself to be.
brucelynn 23rd-Mar-2013 06:01 pm (UTC)
yeah I agree and first I was like meh

but I hope it turns out well
__redrightankle 23rd-Mar-2013 02:45 pm (UTC)
Someone told me BMW is on Netflix so I was all pumped to lay in bed all day and watch it BUT THEY LIED. Luckily, I found links on Sidereel and I'm starting it from the beginning today. BLESS THIS SATURDAY FULL OF GREAT NEWS
yurasama_love 23rd-Mar-2013 04:39 pm (UTC)
The whole series is on YouTube as well!
cestxmoi 23rd-Mar-2013 06:22 pm (UTC)
I work at a library, and I made my manager get all the seasons just for my benefit! Mwuahaha.
badrudegirl 23rd-Mar-2013 02:47 pm (UTC)
Awesome! I hope the kids aren't annoying. It's probably because I'm old now but those Disney kids are so damn sarcastic. ::shakes cane::
metalheavy 23rd-Mar-2013 03:20 pm (UTC)
those Disney kids are so damn sarcastic.

I love this, considering Cory was really, really sarcastic in those early years.
badrudegirl 23rd-Mar-2013 03:25 pm (UTC)
My point exactly. I was about Corey's age so that stuff was funny to me and now I want to slap a kid upside the head.
