start with a beginners intro class if they're offered. When I first started there were girls climbing up the pole already and I just stood in amazement like "HOW!?" but I kept going since it was so much fun..I was climbing the pole after the first month or so.
Pole fitness is actually really popular in Ukraine and Russia.
I've had my pole for a year and learning via classes in a gym just isn't working and I can't afford classes. Ah well, I hope I get the hang of it.

Edit: A lot of pole competitions actually kick out women/men who were previously exotic dancers. A lot of great performers are now unable to compete. I understand why they're doing that, but it sucks.
I think because these organizations are trying to establish pole fitness as a legitimate sport and allowing people who were/are exotic dancers further promotes the idea that pole fitness = dirty/sexual and therefore it's not taken seriously. I think, anyways.
She was great. Not sure how far she will go but the lady judge was right when she said the dancer needs a better costume because it takes away from the artistic aspect of it.

i might take pole dancing classes in the future, i looks really hard though
