Ant-Man is no Squirrel Girl. As much as people don't like him, Ant-Man is a founding member of the Avengers and a character that has been in 50 years worth of comic books. He is not exactly the least important of the characters. Of all the characters Marvel has the rights too, he is probably the most important that doesn't have a film yet.

Well, they tried many times to get WW off the ground, including a Whedon version. They all didn't work out. And Ant Man isn't completely green lit yet.

I seriously don't understand why Ant Man warrants a movie any more than the Wasp, especially given the context that Black Widow (or dare I dream the Scarlet Witch) will seemingly never have their own.

I like Hank Pym, I liked his brief run as leader of the Mighty Avengers, I liked him in Avengers Academy, I hope he joins the Marvel movie universe and I hope Marvel writers take that as an opportunity to move the fuck on from that awful story from 30 years ago that they've been using ever since to justify constantly shitting on his character and keeping his character trapped and stagnant in the same dumb cycle of guilt, mental illness, and costume changes.

I have mixed feelings on Hank. I understand that Hank was in the middle of a mental breakdown during the infamous slap panel, but I hate it when neckbeards try to place the blame on Janet. "She's a bitch who wouldn't leave him alone!!1!" Plus Ultimate!Hank and what he did to Janet was just...horrible. On the other hand I like the idea of him constantly trying to redeem himself and failing. *cough cough*Ultron*cough cough*

Ultimate Hank is irredeemably awful, but that's also true of most of the heroes in that universe and it's why I don't read Ultimate Marvel outside of Spider-Man anymore. And in 616 it's just getting tiresome. It's like every time he gets even slightly close to not fucking up for more than 15 issues at a time, the writer throws a curve in at the end just to bring him back to ass status and it makes investing in the character so pointless. Like the fallout that ended his run as leader for the Mighty Avengers felt tacked on, out of character and managed to undue the previous 10 issues of character development on the book.

And as a general rule I ignore comic fandom because dudes are the worst when it comes to any character that isn't a straight white male.
